Known for both van conversions and auto body repair, D&S Automotive has been a mainstay on Tyler Boulevard, and in the Mentor community, since it first opened in 1977. Although D&S was not the first body shop in Lake County, it has been serving the Mentor community for many years as one of the longest tenured local businesses in the area.Founded by Mr. Carmen Paterniti, D&S began as a vision that quite successfully became a reality. Originally a van conversion company, D&S modified full-size vans into the highly-desired "hippie vans" of the 1970s.

Had a front bumper, headlight, intercooler and windshield replacement on an BMW. Whoever did the paint job deserves a raise, u can not tell the difference from original. There was a slight hiccup with the headlight but they solved that issue promptly and effectively. Price was high but definitely worth the money. Car looks like it was never in an accident. Great job!

My mother had to take her car to the shop for repairs after an auto accident and they were extremely professional and kept us informed every week with all details from their end as well as the insurance until the car was ready to be picked up. They detailed extremely well and you can't even tell that the vehicle was in an accident. I would definitely highly recommend this place for anybody in Lake county or any location surrounding Lake county if they need to take the vehicle in.

I would recommend D&S Automotive 100%. My car was hit twice. Both times I took my car there. The second time I was hit hard and it could've been bad had it not been fixed correctly in the first place. Their top priority is to put us back in to our car and to make sure that our car is back to what it was and is supposed to do what it is supposed to do to keep us safe. Staff super friendly and they care.

Had minor body work done because car was hit at work. Car was done 2 days ahead of schedule. When I picked up my car I realized they had cleaned and detailed my car! It looks brand new.felt sorry for whoever did the inside because I go to the beach and in the woods so it was filled with sand and mud. Amazing customer service and will definitely recommend.

Got a remote start for mom on Dec. 20. The place was clean and shiny but felt very disorganized. I talked to the young woman sitting at the front desk and she looked bewildered when I asked to pay for the service. She had to ask someone else there and he was too busy to help her figure what to do. When he finally made it to me he couldn't accept mom's check and got quite flustered about it.
Not great in this day and age. There was zero paperwork explaining how to use the starter which the front desk person found to be wrong as well. Customer service was just not as good as it should be in such a busy shop. I would not go back unless needed.

The repairs were done correctly, and appear to be very well done. The vehicle was returned clean. The only issue I have with this company was with communication. It took several attempts each time I asked a question to get a response. When one is in the service business, prompt responses are most important. This business does not do this well. For that reason, I could not recommend them, nor would I return as a repeat customer.

I went to D&S Automotive to get a remote start installed on my car. As I was leaving I realized that my washer fluid wasn't coming out, so I called back to see if they did anything wrong, and the service guy said they went no where near it. I took it to Toyota Motorcars and they told me that the person who installed my starter plugged in the wrong wires. I spent so much money trying to fix it. Unbelievable.

Took in my 2018 Dodge Charger to have the windows tinted. Worked with Bryan and was very helpful through every step of the way. Dropped off my car at 4:00pm and picked it up the next morning at 8:00am. They even washed the car. Installation was very professional and better than other places that does window tint. Few small little bubbles that were gone in 2 days, now it near perfect. I would reccomend them for tinting any car.
