Brought my Audi A4 B8 here for suspension diagnosis pre-pandemic and they said some parts would need replacing later down the line. Fast forward today, I emailed the shop to get a quote on labor and install for parts i bought myself. Engine mounts and cv joint boots. Travis emailed back the following : "We do not allow clients to bring in their own parts as we only supply parts and labor due to liability and not being able to keep our doors open if we only provided labor (hope you understand). " First of all, you keep your doors open either way because you are charging me for labor which will cost more than the parts themselves.
The mounts were $50 and the boots were $20. Labor for this job is well over $400.00 If a customer like me brings in a few parts, you are NOT prohibited from keeping your doors open because people like me are but a tiny fraction of the majority of your business. You would still be charging me labor. So in essence, you are actually LOSING business and money by turning me away.
Think about that. Secondly, a well respected shop and mechanic knows that there are customers that supply and source their own parts outside of the repair shop itself. That's why they are open to charging for labor and NOT WARRANTY the repair since the parts were brought in my the customer. Of course you have your clients and customers who are more than willing to have the shop supply parts but this is not always so.
To turn away a customer for fear of not making any business or money is contradictory from a business perspective because you are already making money regardless. I called another shop and they were more than willing to help me. You either make some money, or don't make money at all. In this case, Travis thinks not making money at all by turning me away is more logical than making some money by charging me labor. Go figure. Definitely not professional at all.
