Hands down this is my favorite place for my car to get checked out at. A few months ago I had an issue. Hontech was super helpful and thorough, like really thorough. They were able to assist and got me on the road safely in no time at all! I will be making an appointment soon for an oil change! There isn't anywhere or anyone else I trust my car with.

Dave & Susie are amazing! They are knowledgeable professionals and explained everything in detail for the services that my vehicle needed. They never try to sell you anything that isn't necessary and they are very upfront about what you should perform now vs. maintenance that can wait until your next visit. Very friendly, professional business. I'll never take my car anywhere else as I trust them with my vehicle!

Theres only so much Dave's yapping can do when he doesn't understand what you're asking, nor is willing to understand. They seemed to help my cars for a year, but then they seemed to make my cars worse for a year. I spent less than $1000 leaving may be once or twice, out of probably 10 times. I hope you can get the guys that can help your car. I've lost hope in that. And it's funny how quickly Dave goes quiet when he understands he can't get $1000 out of you anymore. Good luck

Dave performed an oil change and complete overview service of my Honda. He was extremely thorough and honest. Spent a while with me explaining additional work which he recommended and why. He answered my questions honestly and never made me feel like I was being a bother. He even brought me into the garage to show me what he was explaining about my car on another vehicle.
The shop is immaculately clean and the other service techs came out and talked to me about my car too. Although it was only my first time there, Dave and his crew made me feel as if I had been coming in for years.

I love HonTech Automotive! Dave and Susie, and the entire team, are always polite, helpful, and EXTREMELY TRUSTWORTHY. The reason I started going to Hontech was because i was tired of repair providers that were always looking for ways to open my wallet further and further. Hontech tells you what you might want to consider repairing, but gives you an honest assessment on the necessity of that repair. We are from out of state and were leery of going to a mechanic we hadn't met before, but realized we had no reason for concern. Dave the service manager was wonderful in keeping us informed of status and explained the issues as straightforward and understandable as any mechanic we've ever worked with. If you're looking for a QUALITY auto repair shop and GOOD PEOPLE to take care of your car, then HONTECH is it! I brought in my Honda Civic for a brake inspection because of a squealing noise. They happily took it in and I was told later on that it was actually my wheel bearing that needed to be replaced. If I took it in to a different shop, I know they would have urged me to replace my brake pads and my wheel bearing.
But thankfully, David gave me a full honest rundown of everything and that I still had decent brake pads for a little longer to use, that it was just my wheel bearing that needs replacement. My first experience here was phenomenal, thank you to the owners David & Susie! They are just so down to earth and incredibly competent on how they explain things. I highly recommend Hontech!

Very hard to get a hold of someone at HonTech. When I call, I usually get their voicemail and then I'm told the mailbox is full when I try leaving a message. On an interesting side note, when you bring your car in for service, Dave (the owner) will probably ask what you do for a living. He says that's just to make small talk, but I have to wonder if it's also to determine where to place people on the sliding scale of cost estimates.
But anyway. After recently asking questions of Dave about a service quote they gave me for my Honda Element, he gave me attitude for not knowing that I could go to Auto Zone to have a free diagnostic run on my car to see why the check engine light was on. I guess I should've already known that. Oh well. So, earlier today, I go to Auto Zone and do the diagnostic.
That verifies what was found earlier by HonTech: that I need a new knock sensor. I purchase the most expensive knock sensor sold at Auto Zone, which has a lifetime warranty I was told. Then I call HonTech back and ask for a service quote to have that installed. Dave's wife answers the phone and gives me attitude (deja vu of the attitude I got from Dave last week) saying that I should know that they are a family-owned business for X number of years, they only use top quality parts that are better than the low-grade stuff sold at Auto Zone, and they don't install parts provided by the customer.
Third time was a charm for me on their poor customer service, so I let her know they could cancel my appointment because their "family owned business" wasn't making me feel very much like part of the family. But before I could finish what I was saying, she hung up on me. So, I'm writing it here instead. I'd rather go to a Honda dealer and pay more for my repairs if it means being treated with respect. Bye Felicia!

I/we have been coming here for over 20 years! We are a Honda & Acura family and Hontech has been a life saver! Dave and Susan are good, fantastic, honest, knowledgeable people, its like visiting family! A wealth of information, they breakdown and explain everything. We appreciate the information, breakdown of urgency and understanding our need to focused on just what is critical at the time, and clarifying how long we have to bring the car back leaving with a plan for future needs before it becomes worse and more costly.
They have loaner cars for longer service and offer shuttle when not COVID times. I have gone to the dealership for warranty and recall issues, its not personable, they always want to do more and its usually more expensive. Hontech's lobby is clean and comfortable if you plan to wait for your service however, the neighborhood is North Park and there are many options for great coffee, eating, gyms, yoga, shopping etc. I usually plan an outing in the neighborhood if I am going to Hontech. You should check them out!

I cannot recommend HONTECH enough. My pal with an old CRX sent me there. Wonderful people. I had a VERY long and involved interaction with them. It was my first visit and I had a big issue but it couldn't have turned out better! Proved to me their business is straight up and they don't upsell and inflate. Also proved their mechanic knowledge is deep - without that, my car may have been toast!) Been in business 30+ years (He left a Honda dealer decades ago and started his own shop.) I am not taking my car ANYWHERE else but to HONTECH. I have 248K on it and thanks to them, I will get 100K more. They also give you a loaner car for the day(s) depending on how long it takes.

Not only did I save a lot of money compared to the dealership, the owners were so kind and really took the time to explain what was needed for my vehicle. Let me first start off by saying that I called 6 automotive repair shops to get a quote for my car's alternator and they were the most friendly shop that I spoke with. I gave them my info for a quote, and within 20 minutes, the owner Dave personally called me to chat. He let me know his quote included a factory brand new alternator, and that he could get me in ASAP for the replacement.
Every shop I spoke with didn't offer genuine Honda parts, and some were too busy to even let me know when I could come in. To top it off, their quote was $477 cheaper than the quote I got from my dealership. I left my car with them overnight, and the next morning the owner called me again to tell me it wasn't the alternator, but the battery - and that I probably had it under warranty, so he didn't want to take my money until I spoke with my car dealership's mechanic.
They went above and beyond to make sure I didn't have to spend any extra money out of pocket, and wouldn't even take a $20 tip I offered! These guys are seriously first class. To top it off, my dealership covered my battery replacement, so I spent money on the diagnostic test they ran. Another thing - his lead mechanic has been there 33 years. That's an amazing testament at just how well the owner treats people. I highly recommend these guys, especially since they use genuine parts and have so much experience! Hontech just earned a lifetime customer.

I took my 2015 Corolla here for an inspection and an oil change. The staff is super friendly, you can tell the owners treat their staff right. I'm all about great owners making sure their staff are happy because that means they will like the work they do. This shop doesn't make up any lies about maintenance that "needs to be done" just to take your money.
They seem very honest and they disinfect EVERYTHING, which impressed me especially during this pandemic. So happy I discovered this shop. I hope everyone else has a good experience as well. These guys are really really awesome. Very professional, honest, responsive, thorough and most importantly they won't nickel and dime you trying to get you to pay for stuff you won't need. So far I've only had one service done there, but it was a 3 hour inspection on my 2010 Corolla S Manual Transmission, as I was preparing to buy it.
They were giving the sellers all kinds of free advice on buying their next car, what to look for, what to stay away from (ehh humm. German cars). I think we'll probably be back for a lot of car service here. Everywhere I've gone to try and "save money" has ended up costing me all kinds of money (not to mention time and anxiety). I'm done with that and don't mind paying a little bit more to take it here (not that they're even that expensive).

I have been working on a 98 Honda Accord coupe Ex. I have replaced the engine and all the vacuum lines. In fact, most of the sensors have been replaced. When I found an issue I couldn't solve, I began my search for a reputable service center for Hondas and Japanese vehicles. I called and spoke to Joey Camerino. He was very professional and very customer oriented.
I explained my problem and how I was stuck. He said we'll take care of it. I had my Honda towed to Hontech and they began working on it right away. I said "I will be amazed if you guys could figure it out in a day. Well, they did just that! I had no codes for this problem. It was driving me nuts. They found the problem I couldn't. It was a map sensor I had purchased from amazon not long ago.
They replaced the map sensor and called me. I asked them to let me know when I could pick it up and Joey said you got it we just want to look everything over to be certain. The next morning I got the call. I was very skeptical. I have taken my Accord to mechanics here in San Diego that had no clue on what was wrong with my car or how to fix it. So history made me a skeptic.
I said to Joey "I'll take it for a drive as soon as i get there." Joey had my car ready for me. The reason they hadn't driven it was no lights, bumpers, or plates. So the mechanics only drove it in the driveway. I took it around the block. They fixed it! Hontech even got my car on the tow truck and back to my house for me. It sure was nice to find and meet a great service crew in a service center that was clean and professional. Hontech has some top notch mechanics.
Must have to do with the owner having 30 years under his belt with Honda as a lead mechanic. So if you're in need of service or an oil change, or full engine work you can trust Hontech will have you covered. I know where I'll go when I need help. Thanks again guys!

I don't usually write reviews unless it is something exceptional. I took my wife's car to Hontech for a presales inspection and left my wallet in my truck. So, I couldn't show DL or insurance to take the loaner to work. David Newkirk was great. Although I still could not take the loaner due to insurance restrictions, he directed me to a great coffee shop nearby.
When I asked where the nearest free coffee shop was (because, you know, my wallet was in my truck at home), he pulled $10 out of his cash drawer and told me to pay it back later. He also let me leave with car and call back in later pay for the work. I'm not saying they'll do that everytime, but to do it this time is exceptional customer service. Oh, anf the place is clean and professional and they know what they are doing. Too bad I'm selling the Honda becuase they would be my go-to service people from now on.
