We live in Kearny Mesa, which translates roughly to "the land of car repair shops". Competition in the area is fierce, and over the years we have given a bunch of different establishments our business, but never were really confident that we were getting an honest assessment or an honest price. Ten years ago, a coworker recommended FTS, and we haven't used anyone BUT FTS since.
This is a no-nonsense shop that focuses on keeping your vehicle in superb running condition at a reasonable price. We've got our kids using them too, now, so two happy generations of consumers.

This company is the most HONEST auto company I have ever worked with. Time and time again I have been blown away by their extremely fair prices, kindness, and generosity. I have NEVER worked with an auto repair company so genuinely concerned for its customers and who operates with such integrity. Don't look any further - you have found your forever auto home!

This place is fantastic! They have always been honest and upfront with me and get the job done quickly. I brought my car into the dealership for an estimate when it was making a funky noise and they came up with a wide range of things that "needed fixing" and estimated it at $3k. I brought it to FTS and they figured out it was just that the rubber gasket on the hood prop rod had come off. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else in SD.

I cannot say enough good enough about this shop, its staff and the work they do! I found them on Yelp 5 years ago when I first moved to the San Diego area and here I am, returning the favor of writing them a review for other newcomers. My top 5 reasons why I hope FTS stays in business for the rest of my life! 1. honest as honest gets 2. fair and never overpriced 3. know everything about every make and model 4. prompt service 5. great at keeping you informed (The only reason I was afraid to write a review any earlier is that I was afraid that this place would get swamped. But now I see that they keep their same small shop feel, no matter how big their business gets!)

Oh my gosh. We drove from Northern California to visit our family in San Diego AND as we cross the Grapevine our Low Coolant light went on and we barely made it. The following day we called FTS (on a July 4th weekend) and asked them if they could take a look at our car. Not only did they diagnose the issue, they replaced the radiator and we had the car ready to go back home within a few hours. They are amazing! Highly recommend!

Nick is a Honest Mechanic how rare are those. As a woman its hard to find honesty like you get at FTS. they tell you like it is and what needs doing now and what can wait a little bit. my car always comes back better than b4 Services: Electrical repair, Auto engine diagnostic, Tires, Engine repair, Brakes, Battery, Wheel alignment

Check engine light was on. Had to bring my car back a second time. $1,500 dollars and 1.5 weeks with no car. Second time showed up and was told multiple parts were ordered and replaced without prior notice. Service light is still on. Took it to the dealership and it was fixed in two days. Father and son were kind throughout the process but I certainly feel like I was taken advantage of. Probably should get my money back but it's not worth the headache which I'm sure is part of the process.

Came in for an oil change initially but I had some tire issues the day before and Nick took care of that in addition to the oil change; checked all the tires, re-inflated, everything. I left feeling very with regards to my safety and vehicle reliability. I don't usually like auto shops but I will definitely be coming back here. Highly recommend!

Just did the 15k service on one of another company vehicles here. Joe, Nick and his entire team are fantastic. Every time we service our cars here we know everything will be taken care in a very professional matter. We drop off the keys to the vehicles and get a call once it is all done - Just the way we like it! You guys are a huge stress reliever! The also have very fair prices. Thank you FTS and looking forward to the next visit!

THANK YOU JOE & NICK! If it wasn't for you two, I would bleeding money for unnecessary auto repairs. My small fleet of plumbing vans are on the road constantly and if they aren't, then we don't make any income! You have worked magic over the last 7 years to keep a few of my 20 year old trucks and my newer ones, on the road with very fast turnaround that I deeply appreciate.
About a year ago, you even fixed my girlfriend's Honda Pilot air conditioning that was a major hassle to get done and you did it for the best price I could've asked for! I appreciate the father-son team @ FTS!

I brought my car to FTS to check and fix my brakes on a Saturday and they were very accommodating. They squeezed me in the same day since I had a busy schedule during the week and it was dangerous for me to drive another week with the old brakes. I also got my oil changed here and it was pretty affordable in comparison to other places. I was able to make an appointment instead of leaving my car for an entire day just to get oil changed. So that was very convenient!

The Honda dealer wanted $168 for routine transmission flush which I thought sounded over priced. A friend a told me about FTS auto so I decided to give them a call. I was quoted $87 and they said it would take an hour. They got in right when in the time they quoted; and I had a yummy cookie too while I waited. Definitely worth trying FTS Auto, they are now my go to for auto care!

The incredible team at FTS has helped me on multiple occasions. I took my car there when it was making fun grinding noises. Ick. They were extremely prompt and helpful. I took the car back in for my 100,000 mile check and took all of their suggestions. This is not because they were pushy at all - quite the opposite - but because I trust them to tell me what I need and it's just easier to do it all at once. I will always go to them!

Attention to detail is not a priority. They didn't earn my trust or future business. I have a 1961 F100 that had a variety of bugs that needed to be worked out. I went to FTS based on a recommendation from someone at work. The first time I went to pick up my truck after I was told work was complete I found that the parking brake they "fixed" wasn't working.
I asked around the shop and eventually talked to the mechanic that installed many new parking brake components to see if I was missing something and he just shrugged his shoulders. They eventually made the parking brake functional. They convinced me that my overheating issue required a new radiator, which I approved and this did fix my overheating issue.
Unfortunately the "new radiator" was either used, or horribly beat up upon install as many of fins on the engine side were damaged. After one failed attempt to pick up my truck because work hadn't actually been completed as described, I was finally driving my truck home. I got most of the way home before my truck began to shake aggressively at about 2500 RPM.
I called Joe right away and he called me back, and to his defense, paid for the tow back to FTS, which I appreciated. After having the truck for another week I was told that the "shake" had to be coming from the "rotary assembly" as they had ruled out transmission, drive shaft, transfer case or any other drive train possibilities. They quoted me the best case and worst case dollar amount for getting into the rotary assembly.
I should have got a second opinion. I took the truck to an engine builder based on the information Joe gave me about his diagnosis that FTS had ruled out any drive train issues and that it must be in the rotary assembly. So instead of paying $2000 to get into the rotary assembly, I had the engine rebuilt. After engine rebuild, I still have the "shake".

I have been getting my '63 Chevy worked on at FTS for over a year now, and never had any problems. For classic car owners: Joe & his team are classic car experts. They answer all questions honestly and give you advice on taking care of your car. Unlike other shops, they don't force you to fix things that aren't broken. They always give me an honest opinion on the severity of any issues with my car.

Joe and his crew are by far the best mechanic I've ever been to. I'm from Washington State and finding a good mechanic was a necessity since I drove my car down. FTS Auto has saved me hundreds because they're honest and always put the client's needs first. Having a mechanic I can trust makes my life so much easier cause I know I'm not going to get ridiculous "recommendation" on what should be or "needs to be" fixed. If you want a pain-free, fair priced service, you need to go to FTS Auto.

Joe and his entire team at FTS Auto are awesome! They are honest and to the point. They have fixed my car and my husband's car for a very fair price. My sister also took her car there thinking she had some major issues, but they told her she just needed air in her tires and did everything for free! It is nice to finally have an auto shop you can trust. Thanks!

Brought my truck here several years ago on the recommendation of a coworker and have been coming here ever since. Exhaust work, brakes, water pump, power steering, and tune ups so far. Very happy with the work, and they've even given me rides to and from work, the proximity of which is why I chose them in the first place. The good work and fair prices are what keep me coming back.

So back in February when San Diego got some real rain, my car decided not to start as the rain started to come down hard, which is always how it goes, isn't it? No one says, "it was a bright, beautiful sunny day when my car wouldn't start, but it was okay because the birds were chirping, flowers were blooming, and life was good." After Yelping some local mechanics, I found FTS but they were about to close in 5 minutes.
I tried calling anyway and someone actually picked up. I'm not sure who it was, but he was helpful in explaining where to drop my keys off and park my car overnight. They share the lot with some other mechanics right next to the Emerald strip mall, so it was easy to find. I didn't feel unsafe leaving my car there which was a good sign. I called back the next day to get a report on my car expecting to shell out some $$$. However, they told me that they tried starting my car about 20 times and it started each time.
I asked them how much I owe them, and the employee said it was free! Seriously?! I was expecting to pay since they ran a diagnostic, but they didn't charge me anything! I'm very impressed with their customer service, and I would definitely go back for future car issues. Thanks FTS!
