Very pleased with the service and communication. They are a busy shop, you should call and get an appointment to make sure they can fit you in. The phone is ringing constantly with customers so keep that in mind when trying to reach them. I left my truck there for a few hours to make sure they had enough time to do it all right. Custom exhaust work they did looks fantastic, they contacted me prior to welding to make sure it was just how I wanted it. Would definitely go there again.

I called in last week to make an appointment about my brakes and they told me to bring it in first thing in the morning on Wednesday. I got there at 7:57am, was the first person in line when they opened. I called them at around 5pm because I didn't get any kind of update for my car and they told me they hadn't even looked at it! So why did you have my car all day?
I need my car for work and took the day off with the hopes that my car would be AT LEAST looked at and they couldn't even do that. What was the point of me coming in early if you were just going to have my car sitting there all day?

Seemed like they didn't care for any more customers/work. Service area too small and congested. Very uncomfortable and worried about damage to vehicle while waiting to be seen. Try another service center. Called another shop from their lot and they gave me more attention and inviting conversation. One of the bays was empty and only one person in the waiting room. Probably wouldn't call again for service. I tried to remove the one star I did give them!

This is maybe the second review I've given in my entire life, but well warranted. Stressful morning when you get in the car with two kids under 2 (one on his way to daycare and one 7 week old with about an hour until scream time) and an almost flat tire. Oh, and the temperature is 6 degrees. Tire wouldn't take air, I limped to daycare, and called John the Muffler Man as it was the closest place to downtown and one of the only places open that early in the morning. Explained I had a baby in the car and didn't know what to do.
He said he would throw on my spare and keep the tire to look at. I arrived to a full waiting room and people coming in and out picking up and dropping off cars so my expectations were low. He asked which car it was, came back in 15 minutes and said "found a screw, it's fixed" and charged me next to nothing. I'm blown away, so grateful, and wildly impressed that they were able to sneak in some fantastic emergency customer service while being slammed. They have my business for life.

Very unprofessional. I called in on Monday to get an appointment for Friday. I got a call back on Thursday saying we are not going to open tomorrow. I also go "I am not going to open for single car". So when you get the appointment next time, which is usually needed for this place, make sure that there are few other appointments on the same day.

I had my catalytic converter stolen and they were able to replace it and repair the additional damage. My experience dealing with these folks was superb. Despite my Progressive Insurance being insufferable, the repair shop was very patient and communicative. Here are some other important notes: 1. They answered the phone every time I called and were respectful and courteous. 2.
If the person I was speaking to didn't have an answer, they found someone who did and provided me with that information. 3. They were very quick with the repair once my insurance finally approved it, and they also were able to install a catalytic converter shield I purchased. These people are easy to work with and are clearly experts. I'll henceforth be recommending them to anyone who asks.

I needed a new catalytic converter fast so I could drive home as Milwaukee is not my home. They got me in the next morning after I called and I was on the road by 10am. Their service was fast, professional, and friendly. I could not ask for anything more. I would HIGHLY recommend these folks! Service: Exhaust

This was hands down the best experience I've ever had at a mechanic shop. They were able to place a new pipe for my car and were even able to work with me on a payment since I didn't have the money right then. Everyone's very helpful and everyone gets the job done pretty quickly that's definitely will be back.

I've been going to John the Muffler since I moved to Milwaukee 8 years ago. Just took my second vehicle to them for new brakes. The shop is great for routine maintenance and big jobs! They are very honest with you and will let you know what absolutely needs to be done and what can wait. I would trust them with any car.

The best muffler shop in Milwaukee County, period. They got my vehicle in with very little wait, and in 30 minutes had a quote that was much lower than anybody else in town. I was out the door within two hours. Great guys, honest, upfront, and they only recommend what's needed, nothing more. HIGHLY recommended!

I called a head about a nail in my tire - they got me in in 15 minutes and patched the tire up in 20 minutes. So I got the job done over my lunch break. They were fair and up front about the cost. The waiting room could use a table, but for what the place is they were kind, honest, and efficient. I recommend!

Excellent service and repair in the past. On Saturday I was told to call Monday. Monday morning was told they would call right back with repair estimate. By afternoon I called them and they still didn't have it. I was told I could bring the car in but they wouldn't get to it for a couple of days. Seems new generation of owners don't respect the business their parents and grandparents build.
To avoid sitting a week with no car, I had it fixed elsewhere in a couple of hours by people who cared. You are still busy enough now, but this is how you lose it.one customer at a time. I won't be back. My children, grandchildren., friends, colleagues and people reading this may not come. Your area is rapidly changing with the property developers. Soon you will have more competition, and you may care more about the ones who went away mad

I have been to John the Muffler Man a few times now for my vehicle as well as my husband's and I can tell you - these guys are the real deal. Honest. Straightforward. Kind. No wheeling and dealing. As a woman, going to the mechanic can be especially daunting because we can be seen as easy targets for upselling or getting fooled into things we don't need - this is not a fear of mine at John the Muffler Man.
They take care to answer my questions and prices have always been extremely fair. I look forward to my next visit and bringing some cookies to the guys at John the Muffler Man!

Just because people rave about your reviews, please keep in mind you set precedence for your "great service" that everyone is giving you credit. When someone walks in after they get off the phone with you, and there are no customers. Make sure you're really taking care of them and not just taking them for granted based on gender. Having someone wait for 30 mins to check out a small tire leak with no customers in the place is totally unacceptable(ONE TIRE).
Left this place without anything done! Also be mindful of the conversations that you speak in front of customers, I get no one is around, you can let your hair down for a moment, but again, 1 customer or 50, you must keep your conversations professional. Sorry guys, you will definitely get a 1 star for wasting our time and loosing time and money. Very disappointed and displeased!

Do not go to this place for tire repairs. Something simple will take forever. I was the only one in the waiting room and waited over 25 minutes and still did not get called to get my tire looked at. I received no updates or anything. Just sat there listening to their dumb conversations until I couldn't wait anymore. When I told them I could no longer wait they said ok and didn't even say goodbye. Poor customer service.

Service: A+ Price: A+ Here was my situation. My 2000 Toyota Tundra was in desperate need of a new exhaust system and the check engine light went on. The Toyota dealership (on 27th street) who I usually go to quoted me a price of $2000 to replace it. I was like uggggh that sucks. My friends and co-workers recommended John the Muffler Man. So I thought I would check it out.
They quoted me 1/2 the price of the dealership and didn't try to sell me anything else that I didn't need and only recommended additional work that I would need down the line with a range of prices of what I could do. A day later, the Tundra runs like a charm and sounds great and I saved $1000 over the dealership. Also a little secret on their web-site they have 10% off coupon (along with other coupons) and if you check in on Yelp you get buy one get one free on wiper blades.
They do pretty much everything at the shop - tires, breaks, struts, oil change, exhaust systems, mufflers, etc. So forget about paying outrageous prices at your dealership and head over to John the Muffler Man for any car work you need done. My only recommendation is get their early because they work on a first come first serve basis. I dropped my truck off at 8 am and it was done by the time I got off of work.
