This is long overdue, but I came here a few weeks ago because my charging port wasn't working. At first I called the dealership and made an appointment for the next day and I was told it would cost at least $70 which would be rolled into the cost of the repair. Fair enough I figured, but I didn't wanna wait and decided to roll the dice somewhere else.
I looked up which auto repair places were open at 7am (I work the graveyard shift so I really didn't wanna wait until 9am, which is when most other shops in the area open), and I came across Japanese Auto Center. I called them up and they told me I could bring it in right away if I wanted to. I headed over there immediately and they had me wait in their waiting room where I enjoyed two cups of their complementary hot chocolate.
After about 10-15 minutes they came and told me the car was ready. I was fully expecting to wait at least an hour just to find out what the problem was, so I was thrilled it was already taken care of. I went to the front desk with my wallet in hand and asked "How much?" He replied "Don't worry about it, it was just a fuse that needed to be replaced." I'm still at a loss for words. I really appreciate it guys. I'll only come here to get my car serviced from now on!

I have been to this place before and dealt with Mike who was great! This time I needed an alignment. I booked an appointment via Auto Club website. Just to confirm my appointment I called the next day. Spoke with a Eve. She confirmed my appointment for the next morning 8:30am. I get to the shop walk in see 3 guys and one female. I herd her voice that was Eve.
I said are you Eve because you sound like the voice whom I spoke with. Her reply yes, why do I fit the description? WTF is that supposed to mean Eve. Really! Eve this may be an epiphany, but some folks, yes, can distinguish voices of whom they spoke with over the phone. Looks like some of the staff has changed. I am giving you 1 star due to poor communication skills. Too bad for this place as it is an approved AAA shop. They do good work! Bring Mike back.

Received an over the phone estimate from Roger on my 2010 Venza to replace shocks and struts and cv boot $4,000.00. Please get a second estimate when having work done by these guys. I had the same work done for $1800.00. Needless to say I will no longer be taking my cars to this place. What a rip off. This was an apple to apple estimate from the worksheet provided by Roger.

I've been coming here since 2014 when my mustang broke a strut and all other mechanics quoted me $600-$950 with a week plus turnaround time. I came here in the morning and had it fixed running like new before the end of day. Paid $240 total and couldn't be happier. Been coming here ever since with plenty of Ford trucks. Batteries, tie rods, bushings, etc all fixed quickly at a great price. Dan is always accommodating and friendly. Highly recommended to anyone who wants professional experts. A+++

Service was fine though the Guy that was helping me decided answering the phone was more important than excusing himself from my transaction since I was there and there were other people there that could have answered the phone. This is not the first time I have experienced his inconsiderate attitude toward me. They are good enough in the car repair section that I will return and hopefully won't have that person write up my transaction.
This last visit someone put a sticker with the company name and number in a distracting place on my windshield which took a long time For me to remove. I feel you should ask the customer if this is ok before placing stickers on the windshield. Thank You

Japanese auto repair center was very quick at responding to online quote request for tire sensor battery replacement and gave the most reasonable quote. Customer service was excellent; all the staff we encountered on the phone or in person were courteous and knowledgeable. It was our first time taking our car to them but it certainly wont be our last! We've found our new family auto shop :

Glad my friend recommended; Eve was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I checked kbb to make sure I was getting a fair price, and they clearly want to build long lasting trust rather than upcharging for a quick profit. They fixed my rim and checked a few things for free, even! Appreciated the option to be dropped off at home while I waited, and the driver (started with a Z, sorry I'm bad with names) followed speed limits and felt very safe. There was no strong air fresheners or perfumes anywhere, so I didn't get a headache. Definitely coming back for my next tune up!

I was referred to the Japanese Auto Center by America's Tire Co. for a for wheel alignment after I had my son's four tires replaced. They were fully booked, but after I explained that we were driving to Northern California later this evening, they told me to come down and they'd do their best to squeeze me in. They are such a nice group of people.
People who can easily become good friends. You can g ok to many repair centers but they have a certain warmth and relaxing atmosphere. Everyone is so polite and friendly. And of course their work is absolutely Tier 1 / 5 Star Quality. They will explain everything to you and they have a comfortable waiting area. I am definitely taking my sons' vehicles here for proactive maintenance going forward. Thank you to the staff at Japanese Auto Center for a wonderful experience.

It was a good experience since it was my first time to visit this shop and was recommended by an agent from America's tire. I love how clean their office was and nice people in the front who takes your information. Even their early schedule which works for people who have a lot of errands. I will definitely come back again in the future for a wheel alignment.

The staff is friendly, courteous, professional and efficient. They adhered to the timelines given to me for the repairs. They provided transportation for me when I dropped off the vehicle, and picked me up from home after the vehicle had been repaired. They advised me through every step of the repairs by explaining what repairs needed to be done and they had visuals showing the function of the part(s)that need to be replaced. I give them 5 Stars, and will definitely recommend them to Family and Friends.

Since moving to the South Bay area 18 months ago, I've been looking for an honest car repair shop. I thought I had found one elsewhere until they told me a slight issue with my son's CRV needed immediate attention and $1,300! Fortunately, I read enough reviews on Yelp and found Japanese Auto Repair. My 2014 Honda Civic had the door lock drilled out in an attempted auto theft when I was playing golf at Sepulveda Park.
I thought this would be a great way to see how the folks at Japanese Auto Repair handled it. I worked with Eve, who was beyond awesome! So nice. So informative. So cool. They had to order the lock parts to replace them, and I had to come back for those. But I had them do my 105,000-mile routine stuff. There was no talk of needing this or that. Eve simply said, "Your car is in good shape." When the lock parts came in I brought the car back and it was handled perfectly.
The vibe you get with the team at Japanese Auto Repair is so unlike what you run into at virtually any other auto repair place. There is an instant feeling of trust. Eve actually joked about an upsell, "That's not our thing here." Needless to say, all of my Honda service needs will be handled only by the team at Japanese Auto Repair from now on.

This place was very fast, and fixed my car quickly and well (it's been a month or so since my repairs, and no issues to report). Feel free to push back on some of the recommendations, of course. I think everyone gets the "you should put some additive in your gasoline" pitch. But for all the big stuff, these guys are great and the prices are reasonable.

The staff were all courteous and very straightforward with the information about the vehicle concerns. I had a 2004 Mitsubishi Montero and the previous owner simply neglected the car, no service records, transmission issues, timing belt concerns, etc. I left the vehicle there for them to do check on the concerns mentioned and promptly called me back for a detailed explanation of their actual findings, recommendations, and estimate.
They approached the issues based on their importance with the goal to restore the vehicle to a road worthy condition. Eve, Dan, and Kevin comes to mind during the repair process as they are the ones who provided me with updates, estimates, and recommendations. The work done has a 2 year warranty and it may be early to tell but the car runs way better and functioning accordingly. I just got the car back yesterday.

I hit a blown tire in the middle of the freeway, and afterward, the undercarriage of my car was scratching on things it could easily clear before. I took it in to Japanese Auto Repair Center to make sure I hadn't damaged anything, and they took a look. Despite being very busy, they had me in and out in under 20 minutes. I guess it was just the metal splash guard that was scratching, so there was no damage done.
The tire had ripped out 2 of the bolts that held it on, and they replaced them for me. THEY DIDN'T EVEN CHARGE ME. Just fixed my car and let me go. I'll definitely be bringing our cars here from now on. These guys understand what it means to run a business with intergity.

On 3/28/22 while driving my 2018 Hybrid Kia Optima a "Refill Inverter Coolant" warning appeared on my dash. Called Dan and he said bring it over. He did a computer diagnostic test, even though they were busy, before we discovered that the HEV fluid was low. Filled with normal coolant and was done in 15 minutes. No charge. Thanks Dan

Brought my car today for new shocks; they gave me a ride home around 7:30 and got a call about 3 hours later that it was ready, already! They sent someone to pick me up at home and got me checked out and on my way. Amazing service; glad it was done without taking the entire day. At their recommendation will be looking for new tires and then bringing the car back for an alignment. This is the gold standard that other repair facilities should follow!

I needed to get my tail light assembly replaced so I initially called this shop to see what my options were. Kindly enough, Kevin said he would assess the labor and time and said he would do it for free if it didn't take too long. It only took 15 minutes and he was true to his word and mentioned that it was the shop's culture and approach with customer service. Excellent staff of people. Even though Japanese Auto Center is there name, they can work on German too. Brought in my 2017 BMW 540 for a new water pump, as it was leaking fluid. Eve quoted me the price over the phone and they were true to their quote. They ran into a hiccup in the repair, and did not charge me extra to take care of the unforeseen issue. I will definitely come back for all my repairs.

Took my car in to get a diagnosis as it was making a loud grinding noise when I would turn. Although I did not follow through with my getting my car fixed because I could not afford the cost, the interactions I had with the technician, Roger and the receptionist Eve were amazing. I don't drive a fancy car but do like to take care of my car properly. Did a cold search on shops that would do a rotor and brake pad replacement on my car (aftermarket brake kit). They were very responsive and quoted me a very good price. After doing the job, they informed me that the job took longer than expected but would honor the estimate they provided.
Beyond that, I naturally always watch the mechanic because I like watching people work on cars and the tech was careful And thorough in preparing the work. I felt comfortable with him working on the vehicle. Even at the price they told me it would have actually cost, I will likely come back. The shop was well maintained and clean. The waiting room had complimentary coffee and water and if anything was smaller than expected but not at all that bad (maybe a window would have helped alleviate the claustrophobic ambience). Work was completed and so far is working exactly as it should.

I love this place! They are kind, honest, they will let you know what repairs need to be done right away, and what repairs you will need to do soon. I had a question about a weird sound my car was making after some repairs, and they told me to bring it back so they could hear it. Diagnosed it as finally sounding the way it was supposed to (LOL) and didn't charge me for the visit. I will never go anywhere else

I have been taking my vehicles to Japanese Auto for 5 years and they have always done a great job and gone the extra mile, not to mention the cost of repairs are less than one-half of what the dealer charges or used to charge me. The owner, Dan leads from the top down and is in the shop most days, as well as working on the vehicles when needed. The service writers - Roger, Eve, Mike & Kevin are always very helpful. Glad I found this place. I needed a wheel alignment and tires balanced. Arrived around 9:30am on a walk in. Though all the bays were humming with activity they were able to get my car done in about an hour. Prices are reasonable and service was excellent. The facility is very clean including the restroom. I'll definitely take my vehicles back for other services.

This is my new mechanic for all of the regular maintenance and repairs that my current car and all my future cars will ever need. They have my trust 100%. To make a long story short, after getting a quote for $5700 worth of repairs from a local dealership (mind you, this is after already paying $2800 for work that I thought would solve the issue), I took my 2014 Subaru Forester to Roger and he not only accurately diagnosed the issue, but he got my car repaired in just a couple of days.
The amount that he charged me? $800. Now my car is driving as good as new. Thank you Roger! I will be referring all of my friends to your shop! Keep up the excellent and honest work!

This is the perfect place to bring your car too and especially if you find it hard to trust other mechanic shops out there. for the ones that aren't mechanically minded this is the perfect place to go to. They explained everything that needed to be repaired on my car in layman's terms and they're super trustworthy. The environment is very clean and including the restrooms.
I brought my car to them at 7:00 a.m. in the morning but I like to be early so I was there around 6:45 a.m. and before I even walked up to the door the owner greeted me and he knew exactly who I was and took my car right in. This place is very affordable and they have a lifetime customer here.

I recently used them to check the suspension of an older Japanese car I had just purchased and they gave it a test drive and inspection at no charge which I thought was pretty cool considering they didn't find anything wrong. They're location is inconvenient to be my regular repair shop but I would recommend them based on my limited experience.

Hi, I was having trouble with my A/C and called the Japanese Auto Center. I told Ricky what the issues were and what I had tried. He told me to come on over and he'd take a look to see what it could be and provide me an estimate for repair. I'd attempted to fix it myself with one of those recharge kits. When I got there he looked over the entire system, including under my truck.
When he wasn't able to find the leak he asked me to explain what my steps were to recharge. He quickly realized that I wasn't doing it correctly (needed to wait for the compressor to switch on before attempting to fill). He showed me the correct procedure and now I have cool air! There may still be a leak, so he showed me what to look for and told me to come back if the issue continues. Absolutely great, friendly, and honest service. I will definitely be bringing my vehicles back here.

They took excellent care of me and my car. I was worried I was facing a huge repair bill on my '08 Accord. They fixed a loose hose, (which was the source of the problem) installed a new battery and performed an oil change. My car was good to go and my wallet didn't suffer! Originally they said they were booked until Wed but would honor the free check up. I mentioned I work on Wed, but was more flexible Mon/Tues. Plus, I only had 5 days to return the car if there was any problems they found. They were able to see me at 1 pm Mon. Not sure how much more involved a pre-purchase inspection vs the AAA deal, but they found a couple issues and it was no charge.
They gave me a fair quote and told me I could go anywhere for tires, but alignment comes with their service. Very nice waiting room and very clean bathroom! Back to the dealership. I would consider servicing my car here in the future! One year later, AAA is having another summer check up. I went here again (although there might be mechanics closer to me) and I still feel they are very professional and up front with what needs to be fixed and why. I purchase my tires at America's Tires and had been referred to Japanese Auto Repair for tire alignment. I had two tires replaced recently and thought I needed an alignment. Made an appt arrived and went to the waiting room. A few minutes later Kevin returned with my keys and said all was good l. Another alignment was not necessary. Honesty! I was so impressed.
Service could have been performed and I wouldn't have been the wiser. Since my first visit I've been receiving emails with service due on my car. I've continued to take it to the dealer even though it's out of warranty. Kevin, took the time to speak with me about the service they provide. Because of his honesty his great customer service I will be bringing my car back fir future service Thank you This is my second visit

The first time I went here, the owner was there and he was very friendly and helpful. I went in because my car was stuttering at freeway speeds. After I picked up the car from them, I drove it onto the freeway again and the problem happened immediately. When I went back, they replaced something else (for free, which was nice of them to do!) and the car ran fine for a few months.
Then a few months later, I started having problems again. I took it in again and one of the guys behind the counter wasn't the friendliest nor the most helpful person. I left it there for over a day and they said they couldn't recreate the problem so the couldn't fix it. I totally get that, but the issue is they didn't really try and didn't seem to care to.
When I reminded them that it only happened at certain speeds, they said there's too much traffic in the area to do that. When I tried to suggest they could have done it when there wasn't traffic, the guy said "oh yeah, I guess we could have done that" and then just looked back at me. Kind of shrugged their shoulders like they didn't really care. Not sure if this is because the owner wasn't around, but I left feeling totally dismissed and took my car elsewhere.

Let me start with how easy it was to schedule an appointment. I did it through yelp and i got a quote too. When i got to the shop, Eve was the person who helped me. She was awesome! They are honest about the job they will do and the costs. She told me they would check first if I really need to change the cabin filter and if not they would not charge me. They also have a discount for AAA members. Price was reasonable. Will never go back to the dealership. Highly recommend this place!
