It's a decent place with alot of services but their pricing and excuses when you try to show them a diagnostic test on your car they'll try to shrug it off and ask you to pay for them to properly run a diagnostic test. The prices are way of compared to other places also so try to compare before you go there

When I moved to the DMV. I was super worried about finding a trusty mechanic, but Gilis really blew my expectations out of the water. It being a short walk to metro made it easy for me to drop my car off in the morning and pick it up after work. I never feel like I'm getting worked on price. I've actually been surprised with how affordable it's been.

I've been coming here for probably a decade now. I've done a lot of work on my cars myself in the past and I'm picky about it being done as well as possible. I trust this shop; highly recommended.

Gili's is always my go-to place for car repair and maintenance. They are highly professional, friendly, and competent.

For a trailer inspection, I was quoted 140. When I got there, after I told him how big my trailer was, he told me it was bigger than he thought and wanted to charge me 290.! That is way too much for any inspection unless it's a commercial something but there is nothing special about my trailer. I thought that was kind of scandalous. Needless to say I took my trailer back home, I'll find somebody to do it for $90

I needed to have installed a front receiver trailer hitch I had purchased on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I called at least 10 different places trying to find one that could do the job. I called several Jeep dealers, auto service and body repair shops, SUV speciality truck shops, steel fabricators, and all the major hitch manufacturers. The last place I called was Gili's.

I spoke with Mike and he said to stop by and he would take a look at it. I went there immediately and Mike looked at the hitch I had purchased and said they could do the job and to come back in the morning. I returned the next morning and was fairly certain that once they looked at the assignment in greater detail that I would strike out once again.

I met with Gil the shop owner and he lifted my SUV and showed me what needed to be done. He said it was not a big deal and that he could have it ready in a couple of hours. I waited patiently and a couple of hours later the front hitch was installed and looked great. Both Gil and Mike were fantastic. In my opinion, all the other places I had contacted simply wanted "cookie cutter" installs and any job that might have required a little extra work they weren't interested in. Gil came to the rescue and did a great job.

He said it would be easy and he delivered. I asked Gil if I gave him an optional replacement front grill I had if he could also install it for me. He said sure and I returned a couple of days later with the part. He removed the front bumper and changed the optional grill. I waited once again and about an hour later it was completed. It looks great and I couldn't be happier.

If you want to find an auto repair/service shop that really cares about customer satisfaction then look no further. This place is awesome. They go the extra mile to please. Gil even took a ride with me in my SUV and showed me how to use several of the features of my SUV which I had no idea even existed. Their pricing was both fair and reasonable and I would return without hesitation. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Thanks guys you rock!

Good, honest work. Every mechanic is expensive now a days, but at least here they know what they are doing and honest about what needs to be done. As someone who works on cars a lot, this is the only place I bring my cars to when major work needs to be done.

Very poor quality of work and customer service on my recent visit (Gili's used to be good, been a few years since) -- Went for oil gasket replacement on a 2013 BMW. Kept the Car for 2 days insisting that 'we need to check it out that everything is ok.' Picked up the car on Fri pm and in 20 min the coolant light came on. Opened the hood and found reservoir cap was left open and no coolant visible in reservoir. Tried to contact Gili's, no answer.

On Saturday, had to buy coolant my own BMW parts and filled it - took good 50 Oz to get to Max line. On Monday, they called me and when I explained, answer was ".sometimes coolant in reservoir goes down and has to be refilled" and no answer as to why cap was left open, nor why air was not bled from the system. On Saturday when filling the reservoir, I used the BMWs 10 second process of bleeding air out of cooling system. Coolant level in reservoir has not come down since filling. First - these are big mistakes/poor-workmanship, and second lose complete trust when folks come up with stories :-(

I've taken my cars here for years and never had an issue. Very professional and honest. They have always called before doing any work and I've always found their prices fair and reasonable.

Went to Gili's for our MD state vehicle inspections. The entire team was flexible, honest, personable and efficient. We did need to replace a few tires to pass the inspections, which I expected prior to arriving, and they worked quickly to get the correct tires and work with my family's schedule to complete the process. I will be returning to Gili's for any services we need on our vehicles.

We have gone to Gili's for years now and I can't imagine myself taking my car any place else ever again. They are courteous, clean, patient, and affordable. Mike is great at explaining everything to me since I don't really understand the inner-workings of cars, and Gili will even bring out the pieces of the car that need to be replaced and he'll show them to me so I can visualize what's going on in my car, which really helps. There are many other mechanic shops closer to my house, but I will drive the extra 10 minutes just to take my car to Gili's because I trust them.

I went there to safety inspection for my car. They give me a bill to fix problems on car like 2k dollars. The car has brand new tires, brakes, all lights work. The car has just passed va inspection. But i need to register maryland. Probably i will not register. The prizes are ridiculous expensive. Find somewhere else thats for sure.

Two different accidents (one inattentive driver; one suicidal deer) Gili's body shop gave me back a new vehicle each time. They were amazing in helping negotiate the insurance companies and got new body parts despite my insurance company wanting seconds. Also, excellent with routine maintenance and major mechanical repairs.trust worthy, courteous, and communicative. Use them.

I needed a Md state inspection and was able to schedule an appointment. The entire staff was friendly and courteous, they estimated 1.5 hrs but were done in 1hr! I was very pleased with their work and will definitely use them again for my automotive needs.

I've been using Gili's for over 15 years now, and have nothing but good things to say about this place! Starting with the mechanics (Erica to mention one) to Mike at the front desk to Gili, this place is professional, highly knowledgeable, honest and never cuts corners. I've been bringing my personal vehicles here, friends and family and also my company vehicles.

If you are looking for an honest and uncompromising place to take care of your baby from mechanical issues to full body-work restoration, then this is the best place in the area - for sure!

Went for MD state inspection. Was a bit hesitant because I saw a lot of negative reviews saying similar things about them trying to gauge people for repairs based on failing safety inspections. They were done thirty minutes earlier than estimated, in just an hour and a half and found no issues with my vehicle. Thanks for the quick job guys, we really appreciate it.

Great place. A little hard to find but worth looking for and driving a few miles out of your way to find. Very honest and professional business. Dropped car off. Ready when promised. Clean and very professional vibe to the place. Prices was higher than I expected but was exactly as quoted. Really nice front person, possibly owner or manager. I will be a repeat customer.

Would be nice if there was a service menu with prices but maybe it's not normal practice in this type of business. I have always done my own car work so His prices may even be fair or a bargain. Reason for loss of one star. They let me drive away with the check engine light on after an oil change. Had to return, they immediately figured it out and fixed it.

Perhaps it was a fluke. They were very professional and took care of the issue, at no point did they try to say it came in like that. I will try them again and will update next time.

I brought a car in for a pre-purchase check and they were very thorough. They found many problems that I did not notice and then showed me the signs of them all in person. They gave me estimates of the costs to fix those damages and ended up saving me from being scammed by a local car dealership. I definitely recommend them for pre-purchase checks.

Those guys found things that did not exist: breaking pad, rotors, bushings, and a heavy leack from the transmission. All were fine. 18 months and 5K miles later, I still using the same transmission fluid. They simply lied

These guys saved my ass. I was driving through town when my Sprinter van went into serious limp mode and then wouldn't move at all. Got towed to Gili's where they figured out a way to bypass the computer sensor that was causing the problem and -- for only $300 -- got me back on the road. I made it all the way to Portland, Oregon thanks to their creativity and patience. Now I want all my breakdowns to happen in Bethesda.

The people here are very professional, friendly, and honest. I went in with transmission issues, they recommended a service, which I was apprehensive about. But it turned out to be the best option for me, my car never ran so good! Prices are reasonable, and they are very understanding. A real 5 star operation.

I trust this shop. They didn't try to upsell me. They told me exactly what my car needed and how much it would cost up front. Not to mention, the owner himself gave me and my boyfriend a ride back to our place while they worked on our cars.

I am very disappointed in Gilis in service performed in the past 18 months. I have taken my 2001 Malibu there for many years, first with Bills, then with the other Bill, then Gilis in his/their old location on Nebel Street, and now his current location. What I now dislike about his garage is that his mechanic doesn't know how to perform brake work on older cars.

You drop a grand and nothing gets fixed for long. Did the same thing with my spouse's 2003 Trailblazer. "Fixed" and overhauled the transmission, but after 3 months, the problem is only worse. I am now in the process of donating my car to MPT.

I have been going to Gili's since I moved to Rockville, I trust he and his staff with all of my vehicles. They do a great job and have very fair prices! the office staff is the best - real problem solvers.

First time going to Gili's, they were able to get our car in quick for state inspection the next day by appointment. My usual places the car would to have to stayed for 2 days. Didn't really have the time or ability to keep one of our cars somewhere for that long, so to Gili's we went, we dropped it off the night before (which they were totally fine with), took care of the inspection in a timely manner (where done when they said they would be) and got us on our way.

They were helpful with some of the questions I asked as well and the customer service face to face and over the phone was great. Not one problem and they stayed to their word which is always helpful. Very clean and tidy mechanics shop (yes, thats possible) and it's in a very central location in Rockville near Twinbrook, so it's accessible from lots of different directions. Thank you so much Gili's.

I drive out here from DC because Gil's is the only mechanic shop I trust. My family and I have been taking our cars to Gils for over five years now and we have always received good service. Recently had our battery replaced (our Ford Escape has to be taken apart in order to have the battery replaced - so annoying) and they did a rush order for us (had to leave town the next day) and did it well!

My check engine light was also on and Mike told us it was something to do with our transmission. I told him that I didn't have the budget to fix it right now and he was sympathetic. He said he would reset it and told me not to worry, just to come back in when the check engine light turned back on. The time before that, I had to repair my brakes.

It was costly and he knew this was going to hurt my wallet. He threw in an oil change, new wipers, and topped off my fluids. Nice guys, good at what they do, and they genuinely care about keeping you safe. Sorry to see some bad reviews on here but it seems like they are all due to state inspection failures.

Was failed on the MD State Inspection. Got it fixed elsewhere, passed afterwards. I actually didn't mind that my car failed the inspection. Felt it was fair and by the law. What did not sit well with me was after my inspection/invoice were printed, they had me wait, because one rotor was "7/10,000ths of an inch" below spec. After hearing that, my radar went off.

As I was headed out the door, I was then told it would cost me $30 for the rotor re-inspection if I take care of it on my own. (Which they forgot to charge me on re-inspection cause it was probably a made up charge to begin with.) As for the repairs/maintenance, I did them + some elective maintenance per my own request at a shop down the street that was always transparent with me. That "7/10,000ths" cost $1120 in business.

I am very amazed at how you guys LIE to make money. You all gave me a FAIL in my auto inspection, a very high, unnecessary repair bill of $1,200, and accused me of falsely stating things. I also have seen that all your 5-star reviews are fake. You have gotten them to cover up for all the 1-star reviews you have got from real customers. You guys LIE, and routinely FAIL auto inspections, and force car owners to get their car repairs from you, else they will not be able to get their cars registered. You all are running a RACKET, and people need to be made aware of your tactics.
