I brought my new-to-me used car in today for a MD state inspection. I was referred to Ormsby Auto by a tag and title shop not too far away. I had no doubt my car, with just 25,000 miles would pass. When I arrived, they readily fit me in. It didn't occur to me that I should have had an appointment. Thankfully they took my car in while I had breakfast at a walkable distance McDonalds. (Their fritter is really good.) They said it would take an hour, but when I came back 50 minutes later it was ready to go! Wil gave me the good news, but said I should consider having my rear brakes replaced soon.

No pressure to sell me on making an appointment, but because Wil was such a cordial guy, I just may come back here. We had a nice conversation, and I found out he's a former educator. My inspection was just $85, and the first step I needed to complete in registering my out of state car in Maryland.

Be carful this place is a scam. I went online and tried to schedule a MD state inspection. the price online is 59.99. When I called and asked for the price the manager said it is 69 dollars and if you don't like it go somewhere else. It is not about the 10 dollars but more for an honest place to let people work on your car. Manger Sam very rude and disrespectful hung the phone and blocked my number. scammers

Fantastic. I have owned older cars which needed a lot of repairs. Very friendly and thorough at explaining the issues. Wil and his team always did great work at an honest price. (The MD MVA was surprised that my Volvo passed emissions inspection after failing it earlier.) Alas, I tried four other mechanics in Rockville/Bethesda before finding Orsmby, who is awesome.

Absolutely. Hands down. One of the VERY BEST experiences I have ever had at any mechanic in the last 10 years. Professional, very reasonable in the charges and very accommodating on scheduling my appointment. I am normally very skeptical when it comes to mechanics. They came highly recommended and I am passing the recommendation on to anyone who needs brakes, tires or mechanical repairs on their car. I'd give 6 stars if they were available.

My car was having trouble starting and also made a strange sound. They were able to diagnose the problem quickly and fixed it with a quick turnaround. This was months ago and my car is still running smoothly. I've also started going to them for the usual tune up and oil change. I'm really happy with the service and highly recommend them!

Rude and discriminatory owner! Waisted my time and got no service. Prepare to be denied service for any reason! Hope they will get sued and go out of business!

I have taken two vehicles here over the past six years for inspections and maintenance, as well as for major issues. Everything is well-explained and thorough! They are flexible and creative in their problem-solving. Wil always takes extra time to discuss what has to be done immediately versus what can wait, and pricing is incredibly reasonable. I can't recommend them highly enough and won't go anywhere else as long as I live in the DMV!

Scheduled my state inspection with Ormsby Auto with ease and was able to change the time the day before. The reviews are legit here when it comes to state inspection. According to my husband, the owner, Frank was super helpful and straight to the point. The pricing for a state inspection beats a lot of places in the surrounding area. I would definitely recommend getting your state inspection here.

Ormsby has been my car mechanic for almost nine years. they have kept my twelve-year old Saturn Vue on the road for the entire time. this is a model which can be difficult to find parts for. They have done it every time. There is nothing better than finding someone to work on your car you trust.

These guys are awesome! They saved me a bunch of $$, they're super nice, and they had me laughing while I was waiting a short time for my car inspection--not a bad way to get an onerous chore done. Get your car inspected here, and I would recommend getting your car fixed here too.

I called several places before here looking for Maryland Safety inspection, and everyone else said I would have to drop my car off for the entire day. Ormsby Auto not only had me in and out in an hour with quality service, but also was honest with prices and adding wiper blades to my order since mine failed inspection. Thanks for making my life easier!

Fantastic service! I went to get the used car I bought MD inspected and it couldn't have been any easier. Will is super friendly and the office is clean with more than enough reading material to keep you busy while waiting. The work was also done in a very timely manner, I made an appointment during my lunch break and made it out within the hour!

Will and Frank and the staff are always responsive. I've used them for years and can't say enough good things about their service. Highly recommend.

DO NOT get your car inspected here unless it is new, they will try to get you to pay for things that you do not need. I took my car to another shop today and they said they were trying to swindle me and being very aggressive. Dont be fooled by the smiles and charm, the low price of the inspection is a trap, pay more and get it done right the first time. I wish i had never gone there and saved myself some heart ache.

NOT RECOMMENDED. Here is my experience: I brought my car for inspection with almost 30K miles on it. They will ask you to add $35 if your windows are tinted, which I think that should not be charged. But I went ahead and pay them the extra money. Hour and a half later, I was notified that the inspection is failed due to the window tint. The rear glass was tinted 5 percent darker than the accepted 35 percent.

I came this morning to reinspect after I removed my window tint over the weekend. The gentleman at the front told me that I have to pay additional $35. I questioned him about the charge as no labor involved and it's only a matter of giving me the result after a quick peek on my windows. He mentioned that the State of MD charges that fee. That sounds suspicious to me, so I did a research and found this on MVA's website: "A re-inspection fee should not be charged if the repair can be visually confirmed".

I showed him this statement from MVA website, but he still insists to charge me the additional $35 with an excuse that the information I got from the MVA is outdated. Again, I didn't argue about that since I just need to get it done. The technician looked at the car for 5 seconds and rerecord the mileage. A few minutes later, the gent told me that it's passed and proceed with the payment.

I asked if Frank, the owner is available because I would like to have a chat with him once I paid the 35 dollars. After I mentioned that, he changed his mind and waived the $35. In summary, they will try find ways to charge you unnecessary cost and drain your pocket. They will not hesitate to provide false information if needed, in my case is the reisnpection fee.

I will go to somewhere else for inspection and will not recommend this place to anyone for MD inspection. My total cost for my inspection is $95 dollars. It was my fault not to read the other reviews thoroughly. I gave the extra star because the gent at the front changed his mind in charging me the $35 reinspection fee.

Just got my Maryland State Inspection and passed with no issues or extra BS fees! Went first thing in the morning and it took little less than an hour. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Price was lower than the average $79. Glad I called and compared other places before booking.

Awesome experience! It originally did not go the way I planned-failed safety inspection. Will & Frank gave me a honest consultation and extended a more than generous offer in pricing for the extensive repairs. I would recommend this establishment on one principle- they conduct themselves with integrity. That in itself is worth leaving your vehicle with these trusted men.

Great value, speedy service and excellent customer service. Highly recommended. My car was making a strange noise, they showed me it was a loose exhaust pipe which they fixed, they also took care of replacing the torn cable of the horn system. Replaced all with new parts and gave me a discount. I was on my way home in less than a hour.

I discovered a nail in my rear right tire after leaving the metro station. I came in late on a Friday and Will and his team took care of me under 30 minutes. Will was a joy to talk and has an interesting background. He even waived some of the extra fees. This place is great!

First, let me say the folks at Ormsby are the friendliest, most honest people in the car repair business. I have a 2006 Volvo with low mileage (under 85k miles in 10 years) I bought new from the dealer. I've since passed it on to my daughter in college. After years of service from the dealer, things suddenly became very expensive. I was quoted a couple thousand $ to replace my front bushings.

These are just small rubber bumpers that protect the car frame from the wheel assembly. I declined and let it go for about 18 months. Eventually they failed along with the struts (apparently common in this model- S60) so I needed a fix. No way I was going to have the dealer do this because of $$. I have had Ormsby do some minor work before so I took it here for an assessment and quote.

I do really maintain my car, believe it or not (bushings), so I had them include the mfg recommended maintenance in the quote. Simply, the total price was about half of what the dealer wanted for two rubber pads installed. Truth be told, when I got my car back I noticed the maintenance message had not been reset. I also had to bring it back after a day to have the strut bolts tightened.

This is pretty normal. It took all of 5 minutes and they warranty all their work. The owners of this shop are so friendly, I feel I had a free therapy session! They are so open, friendly, intelligent, and conversive that I feel I have made new friends. I know the shop is just in an auto garage park, but that doesn't matter. I also get a very strong feeling that these owners and employees do what they do only because they love it. Perhaps that's how they keep the prices so low.

I worked with representative Will today. He was so helpful. Got me done and out of the shop for my repair order under 20 mins. Super courteous and polite customer service by all the staff members in fact. Even offered me drinks and coffee while I waited. So nice to see smiling faces early early in the am.

I continue to use Ormsby Auto and they continue to treat me well and with honesty. My car has now turned over 100K miles and I've had to replace nothing major other than the brakes. Frank and Will (farewell to Robert, who parted ways in 2012) never try to upsell me or take advantage of my ignorance. [Last time I had my car there one of the staff had even brought in Georgetown Cupcakes. Just try to keep me away from these guys!]
