They were nice but i had spoken to someone very clearly about my payment situation and somehow i was misunderstood. I just hope that they learn to listen and understand what the customer is saying to avoid confusion and stress. Not sure of the work yet but ive heard good things so im sure its fine.

Rebuilt may differential on the wife's '04 Suburban. I was very pleased with the service and the price. This is about the 4th job I have taken them over the years and I am sure I will be back. Great shop!

Thankful to these guys for quickly diagnosing and fixing my Tundra, needed new front wheel bearings. This was the third shop I took my truck to, and apparently the only one that looked hard enough to find out what the problem was. (The Toyota dealership couldn't figure it out and ended up charging me for a bunch of other things that didn't fix the actual problem.) My truck is running smooth now thanks to Young's. Would recommend them to anyone else dealing with steering/suspension problems.

I dont know what makes my driveline special, but apparently its special enough that the fellas at youngs gear could not balance it. They tried 2 times, couldn't get it, and still charged me $250. I then took it over to 6 states distributors, paid them $250 and my driveline runs like melted butter. It cost me a smooth $500 to find out who knows their stuff. Mabe you can save yourself some $$$ with this knowlege.

Called a week ago about replacing the seals and bearings for the front differential on my trailblazer. I was told it would run 2000.00 for seals and bearings and worst case 2900 for major work. I brought my truck in today and was told it would be well over 2000. For seals and bearings and possibly over 3500. If it needed to be rebuilt. I asked how much to swap out mine for a rebuilt one and was told 2900.

Unless the receiving end was bad. And I wouldn't get an accurate estimate until they took it apart. Seriously!? NO THANK YOU. Why not just tell me to begin with that you have no idea how much it costs to rebuild a front differential or replace seals and bearings instead of having me take time off from school and rearrange my schedule for a week for this. * When I picked up my truck it was still engaged in 4WD. driven out of the shop on dry pavement and parked in 4High. This is not good for my 4WD system. Very frustrating.

Phenomenal service from Young's Gear here in Anchorage. After driving across the BC and Yukon Territory in January 2020, the front drive shaft on the Jeep JK Unlimited went out. Young's ordered a new front drive shaft which worked well, but after 9 months, it caused significant vibration. They contacted the manufacturer and confirmed the warranty, and replaced it with a new drive shaft in one day.

They also ensured the replacement shaft would not have the same problem before installation. Thanks to Chris and the Young's Gear team for covering a problem that was outside their control, and made the process very smooth despite a part failure. I highly recommend!

If you have a driveline problem Young's is your answer! Asked for an estimate, which was done in an hour. Everyone there greated you, made sure you were taken care of. The work was superb, and fixed right at a fair price that matched the estimate! Wes was awesome, cannot say enough good things about this place. I wish all shops were like Young's!

Yet another visit to youngs gear. I purchased a 99 ranger P.o.s from craigslist as a backup winter car. I was not sure if the 4x4 was working or not. I did not particularly want to engauge it on the dry summer pavement and scrub the tires around corners to see. I was too lazy to jack up all four tires to test it out. I asked them to check the whole thing out.

If this place was unscrupulous, they could have snagged me for a new controlbox, a new electronic transmission actuator and more. In the end all they did was replace my 4x4 engaged light. and my differential fluid, as requested by me. Keep in mind the owner is on site. Unlike many other places. Other posters have issues. 4x4 cars take a beating up here in Alaska Good work isn't free.

I personally am never upset if a mechanic discovers stuff wrong with my car that I was unaware of I am pleasantly surprised. And not upset and take out the information on the messenger. --------------- Way to go Young's gear! I wanted to buy a " new" old 4x4 I found it on Craigslist. I drive it. I liked it. I called up Young's and without notice! Asked if they'd look over the 4x4 components.

They did. I paid shop rate for a mechanic to test drive, and jack up and check all that Young's is good at fixing They noticed a leaky shock and old t case fluid That's it. They thought the car was a good buy. I've had it 6 months now. No probs! Thanks Greg! And the guys at Youngs!

I called a day ahead to ask if they press wheel bearings, and was told they do. I asked for an approximate quote and was told it should take no more than a quarter hour and be around 30 dollars. I dropped off my steering knuckle next day and had very quick turn around time about 2 hours. When I arrived to pick up I was charged 113 dollars. I won't complain that they didn't do a good job, because they did a great job, I just wish I was given a more accurate quote. I'm on a tight budget and was trying to find a cheap option. This business does great work, but I would not trust quotes given.

Had Young's rebuild the transfer case in my son's 2003 Chevy Blazer. They had it done in 2 days and the cost was reasonable. After installing and filling the transfer case with fluid, I noticed a slight leak in the tail section. I brought it to their attention and they got right on it and made an appointment to get the vehicle in for a slight adjustment.

I am pleased with their customer service and good attitude. The work is warrantied for 12 months. Hopefully it lasts a long time. I'm optimistic. They actually saved me money!

Had to replace a driveshaft on my '95 F-150 a while back. They did it right, quickly and inexpensively. Gonna use them soon for the front driveshaft on my 2012 F-250.

After reading the reviews I feel like I had to say something. I am a commercial fishermen with a high maintenance appetite for high quality work in an insane timeframe and Youngs Gear always comes through. Judel(Not sure if spelled right) and the owner worked with me one on one through the entire process to make a custom hub for my unheard of application, all within a very reasonable time crunch. Always good service. Always.

I have purchased parts from Young's before. I have a very old truck which is difficult to find parts for. They had the parts I needed for my axle on the shelf. I went in just recently to price out a rebuild of my front axle and the gentleman there broke the whole pricing down to the amount of fluid and cost. Even gave me a worst case scenario price. I plan to have my front axle rebuilt in the near future. Another review to follow.

Rip off artists.they had my truck for 12 days and I paid $1460 for a rear differental repair. My truck was still making a lot of grinding noise and my 4 x4 went out the next week. They refused to accept my truck without starting a whole new repair bill, I ended up going elsewhere.these guys are crooks. AVOID THIS PLACE.

Screw this place. What a bunch of typical mechanic robbers! I took my truck here, telling them exactly what I wanted done. I wanted the clutch slave cylinder replaced on a 25 year old truck. I said I didn't want a new transmission, or even a like new transmission."it's a beater with a heater, is all. I don't care that a seal leaks, and I don't care that it pops out of 4WD.I just want to be able to shift. Period. I'm 95% sure that replacing the slave cylinder will fix the problem.if it doesn't, my loss." The clutch was brand new, as was the master cylinder (though maybe the wrong one).

I told them all this. No problem, we'll take a look at it. Three days later, they call me wanting to do over $2000 worth of work to it. The invoice reads, "New Clutch, front axle U Joints, a front pinion seal, rear axle seal." Then, in parenthesis, it says, "Complete overhaul?." If the slave were internal, and leaking all over the brand new clutch, then yea.maybe I'd need a new one.but that's not the case here.

Why replace a brand new clutch, Young's? When I said that all I wanted was the slave replaced, they told me, "Yea.we really need to open it up to see what's wrong with it." It's a NP 435 tranny.its a pig, a workhorse, and incredibly common. $2000? Go fuck yourselves. So I picked it up. If I were at home, I'd do it myself. I just don't have any tools or lifts or anything while here at school. Plus, I'm a little scared of transmissions. Went to another mechanic, who will be receiving a stellar review after this is done.

I asked him what he thought was wrong. I didn't suggest anything. I wanted to see his answer without my influence. He drove the truck around, and said, "Yea, I think its just hydraulic." He jacked it up, looked at the clutch through the viewing window, and said it looks ok. He replaced the Slave and Master Cylinder, and the soft and hard line. $550. Awesome. Also, that includes a tranny flush and filter, as the guy who did the clutch before put ATF in the tranny.suppose to be gear oil. So. DON'T GO TO YOUNG'S GEAR.

If you know nothing about your car, they will rip you off royally, or at least give you a hard time and try and sell you some Creme' de' la' Creme' transmission. Screw that.why not just be honest with people?
