My experience with Michael and David has always been 100% positive, as it was yesterday when they quickly did a bulb change-out while I waited early in the morning. I've been happy with price, timeliness, and especially the family feeling when I interact with them. I've been their customer for close to eight years now. It's such a contrast to the auto dealership service departments, especially on price.

Mike was so helpful; my taillight was busted so I called and asked if I could do a walk-in. He helped me in minutes and I am so so grateful! Many of my friends also come here for their car needs and they've always reiterated how honest the people are here along with their amazing service. This was my first personal encounter with Japanese Beetle and I'll definitely be back in the future!

Mike and David are one of the good guys. They always fix what needs to be addressed without overselling something else. Although they do mention things you can do sooner rather than later, it's a difference between being informed of potential issues in the future and being told what to do. I know my MDX is always in good hands with them. Thanks again guys!

You won't find a better Honda specialist around. I've been coming here for the past few months after looking for a good mechanic for a while. Mike offers some of the best customer service around, and their technical service is top notch as well. I've taken my 2003 Civic EX and my 1997 Prelude here for: - brakes on both - a head gasket and trans fluid on the Civic - transmission, clutch, timing belt/WP, and valve adjustment on the Prelude Both cars are running great now. I can definitely recommend this shop. Thank you Japanese Beetle!

Japanese beetle and crew are awesome. I went in for a timing belt repair and additional work I decided to have done and I got my car the same day. Japanese beetle is a responsive and customer service oriented owner-operator with great experience. Great value for awesome service. Thank you Japanese beetle.

Brought my Ridgeline in to get my A/C repaired. Mike from Japanese Beetle took a look at it and fixed the issue in less than an hour! No push to get any other services done. Price was much more reasonable than my dealership and friendlier as well. Very happy to have this business in our neighborhood and within walking distance of our home.

I have been taking my cars (several Honda Accords, and an Acura) to Japanese Beetle for 43 years. They have repeatedly proven themselves to be highly competent, gracious, and full of integrity. Their prices are very reasonable. When I read fraudulent reports of Jenny L, , Lukas S. or Andrei, I know they cannot possibly be talking about Japanese Beetle. I am also angry that those three people are going out of their way to discredit honest, capable businessmen who are a credit to our community.

David and Mike are a local gem for import car service. Honesty, integrity, experience and value are some of the things I really enjoy dealing with this great family business. Every time I have had the pleasure of having my Ridgeline serviced with David and Mike, I always say to myself " that was way too easy. it's obvious that these guys have done this before hundreds of times ".
They have the technical service end of the car down like clockwork as well as the customer service end of of the transaction. I feel very lucky to have a local specialist to trust my truck with. I look forward to my next visit to Japanese Beetle as well as bringing my wife's Rav 4 in soon!

No judgement. First time for fluid transmission. When pick up the car, was said both tie rod ends need to be replaced. But first to do is replacing tires that are bad then technician will do the work and alignment. I agreed with price quote. When I brought my car to Costco was said that all tires are good for at least 7000 - 10000 miles (they are 2 year new Michelin bought at Costco under warranty).
I was still not convinced, went to another Costco location to double check. Same thing, 2 guys came out to inspect my tires and said exactly the same. One of them was surprised why I need new tires. I told him the repair shop recommended due to tie rod end damaged. He suggested for a second opinion. I went to another repair shop rated as one of the top trusted in the area.
After going on a test drive and open up my tires to inspect closely. the new technician told me that he doesn't see any thing wrong. I offered to pay for the inspection time. He refused.

In Jul 2015 I came there to investigate weird sound in the left front wheel area during slow, but sharp turns and also realized i needed an alignment because one of my tires was significantly worn on the edge. They couldn't find anything related to my original complain and we just did an alignment. They charged $100 for this service and gave me a handwritten report which was hard to read.
I didn't feel safe about unevenly worn tires and 3 weeks later i did a full tires replacement and alignment at another service. The new alignment report (machine generated, with precise values) showed that wheels needed significant adjustment. Hard to believe that things changed so much in just 3 weeks! Now 3 years later and many more miles my tires are evenly worn and don't show any signs of misalignment, so i'm pretty much sure that the latter report was accurate. I guess i just wasted my money with Japanese beetle.

Mike is a professional guy and really helpful. Doesn't brush you off like dealerships if you ask questions. Mike answered all the questions, concerns and also noted a few small extra things I requested him to look at. Found it a little expensive for regular servicing than the package I had received from Toyota dealership earlier, but I'd say it was worth each extra penny.

My car had check engine light when I was on vacation. These guys were able to pack me into their busy schedule to read the error code (even though the light went off "by itself" in the meanwhile). Rather than replacing expensive parts, these guys are for more diagnostics, which I really appreciate. Will come back. Update: Maybe I won't be back after all.
I have specifically asked them about tension of my drive belt. They smirked, told me it was fine. I asked them about clicking noise my engine made. They came out to the lot to listen to it, said it sounds just fine. They also missed a broken CV joint boot, which I forgot to ask them about at the time, and just thought it was not a big deal if they did not fix it.
Now I brought the car for an inconsequential recall repairs to the dealer, and I'm looking at a $3000 bill for all the problems those guys have missed. Being fair, it's been some time between my visit to JB and today. But at least those three problems I already had back then. So yeah, if you want a fake reassurance there is nothing wrong with your car, bring it here. If you want your problems fixed, maybe keep looking for another shop.

*FINALLY* convinced my Dad to take his '05 Honda Accord here.probably what did it was the dealer 'recommended' replacing front and rear rotors and pad.all for the low low price of $1400! Called Mike and got a quote after I explained what was needed. Brought it over and sure enough, rear rotors didn't need to be replaced; just pads. Sucks Honda takes advantage of older people :P

STOP! You do not need to go to any other auto repair then right here (Japanese models only). I've been coming here since when the guys only serviced Hondas (hence the name Japanese Beetle Shop, at least back in those days). They have service our 1997 (that's right folks) Honda Accord Wagon since 1997. Mike and Dave are the BEST. Fair, honest, quality auto repair. Reliable, on time delivery.
I support our local independents. Even better when they provide outstanding service with a smile. Chat up a storm with Mike (I can call him Mickey) about his kids and anything else. Highly recommended. No frills but who needs your car washed and pickup service when you can TRUST the mechanic who works on your car?

I write this review at my peril -- because it's something that's probably best kept secret (the less competition the better). I have an '81 Honda Civic 1500cc -- 300,000 miles. No, I'm not selling it! They will bury me in it -- as long as I can get parts to keep it running. And know I'm skating on the thin edge of being totaled out by the unavailability of some vital part that even Japanese Beetle won't be able to pull out of its hat anymore. They're not 100% perfect (who is?). It's just that I've done so exceptionally well by them over the years since I began with them back in '84 when Keith (David and Mike's father) ran it. They've always been there for me (and in more ways than one -- thanks David). Civics' are in their blood and know them well.
For someone who's not a millionaire it simply doesn't get any better than an '81 Honda Civic and Japanese Beetle -- that can go where no Honda dealer has long since been ever able to go anymore. Live long and prosper (but not too much). Don't die! Don't retire! Don't move (unless it's closer)! And don't ever ever win the Lottery!

Normally, I trusted this place because my relatives recommended it even though they charge exorbitant prices for average level of service. They seem friendly and knowledgeable, but this may be the act to lure you in and back. What annoyed me was that they would forget to do simple things (e.g., align headlights when bulbs are replaced, change color gauge for maintenance completion) that I end up taking my car elsewhere (e.g., Costco) to do. Plus, they mixed up my order where they charged me for a complete maintenance (~$1K including timing belt and other tasks for an old car) when I came in for a simple oil change. Then, they denied that they didn't mix up my car with another one when I investigated further after I heard their anecdote straight from them.
If you read the responses by the shop, it's unprofessional how they claim the reviewers are not customers and slander back at them accordingly instead of offering to resolve the issues. I'm surprised and disappointed by the poor and dishonest level of customer service given I used to think this shop had integrity. This shop will try to get away with high prices unless the customer is savvy enough to catch them in the act or question their practices by claiming their quality of service with pride when there is no proof of this shown to their customers that justifies their prices except trusting what they say.

This place is outstanding. They are great mechanics and do a very good job - at a very fair price! What really makes them stand out is their no frills, honest approach. They will diagnose and fix what's wrong with your car. I've never felt they're searching for issues that aren't there to get more out of you. I've been coming here for +2 years, and my car is running great, with 231k miles on it! Mike and the rest of the Japanese Beetle team deserve their due credit for that. If you have an import car (especially Honda / Acura), bring it here to get service. You will be happy you did. This place is a gem.

I've taken all my past cars to these guys, and my family has been going here for years. They're fantastic professionals who have always been honest with me whenever I had a problem. They always seem to have my interests in mind more than making money, and I'll always recommend them for that. To illustrate that: When I had my very first car long ago, someone hit my front end and since it was an old car the insurance company wanted to total it.
I was devastated and took the car to Mike and Dave to see if it would be worth taking a salvage title and fixing it back up. After looking it over for a day, Dave called me and told me that while they could fix the damage from the accident, the transmission had some serious issues unrelated to the accident and was going to end up needing replacing in not too long.
He told me to take the total, even though it meant he'd be passing up a big chunk of money. I love these guys and the only reason I don't take my car to them right now is that my new car is on a manufacturer maintenance plan. But you can bet when that's up, I'll be back at JB for all my services. And you can bet that anyone with a Japanese car who tells me they're having car troubles hears an enthusiastic recommendation for Japanese Beetle.
