Been a customer for a few years and was happy, but recently the front office has changed staff and has become very surly and confrontational in their dealing with customers. We had developed a front end noise and took the car into get looked at. They found nothing. A torn CV boot was identified in our recent car inspection. We were suspicious why we were being told it was nothing so we gave Hyde Park multiple tries to identify this and they failed every time. We were told that the noises and issues were just the fact that our car was older. New shop found it instantly. Not sure what is going on, but we are no longer a customer

I pulled in parking lot to inquire about safety check required to renew car license. The manager, who had a facial expression like he had a terd stuck sideways, walked up to my car. I had been on hold with the licensing department for 1.5 hours and of course they finally came on at the moment I pulled in the lot. This was first time renewing license in MO and it is complicated! Anyways he treated me like I was a leper.
After going inside and determining that I would have to go elsewhere because their availability wasn't till Thursday next week I got in my vehicle and was trying to find an address for another place safely out of traffic. He walked up to car, still with painful expression to tell me that they will need me to move to back cars out. They weren't backing any cars out right then. Just a grumpy socially awkward jerk.

I have given Hyde park 3 chances and they have struck out each time! (I was Refered by my AAA membership) I am done with Hyde Park Auto! It was in the afternoon when I got a call that my car was ready. The owner did the work without calling me prior to completion, at the time I thought I would let it slide. I called him to inform him I couldn't get a ride this late in the afternoon but, I did hAve a ride first thing the next morning.
The owner started yelling at me and said he had no where to put it overnight And hung up on me! This is 3 rd time he has yelled at me as a customer After spending around $1500 plus at the shop. The owner should never be dealing with customers as he is unprofessional and down right mean! 3 strikes you are out Hyde Park Auto and I report the horrible experience to AAA too. Do not go there!

Reviews say it all! Hyde Park is an oasis in the harsh desert that is honest auto shops in KC/ midtown. I have an older vehicle and they are the only garage in town that not only gave me the time of day but went above and beyond. Even complimenting my old car and making me feel thankful for what I have. It was a day and night difference going to Hyde Park after having been to many other gruff and frankly dishonest places in the past.
I will truly never go elsewhere for as long as I live in KC! Thank you Hyde Park for the extremely reasonable prices, memorable customer service, incredible know-how and beautiful work! I have also referred friends here who always come back with rave reviews. Hyde Park is a gem!

They refused my car without giving me a reason. 'I'm gonna pass on that deal.' we're his exact words. I'm pretty sure they blocked my number after my first time asking for their service too. There was no confrontation. He just chose not to do business with me for seemingly unknown reasons. There's a lot of positive reviews so I'm honestly still a little confused about the whole situation but I guess I'm being forced to take my business elsewhere.

No longer recommend Hyde Park Auto. I have referred family & friends to them. They've done a few oil changes for me & some work on my steering column. But 7/30/21 I went in for an oil change, everything was the same as usual. 8/27 as I'm driving down the highway my car oil pressure light starts to flicker then after doing that 5-6 times the light stayed on then immediately after my check engine light came on & so did the battery light.
My car stalled/died out as I was on the exit ramp. When the tow truck hooked my car up you could see oil leaking then I look under the car & see the drain cover is completely missing. I understand mistakes happen & people sometimes miss things so I went in with that understanding mindset. But when I took the car back, the owner, TOM says "this is not how I planned on starting my Monday morning, we'll get to this car when we can". Seriously?
Until today I had never received anything other than exceptional customer service. You would think an owners initial reaction to completely screwing up your car from a ROUTINE OIL CHANGE wouldn't have been that. In the end, he offered to reimburse me for rental/Uber/Lyft while they replaced the "motor" & this took all of a week. Fast forward a week later after getting my car back, the check engine light is on again & my car is riding the same way it did when it broke down the first time the "fixed" it. Even when taking it back today still received that same horrible customer service from TOM. Save yourself, your car & your time. just go somewhere else!

This place is amazing! I would recommend Hyde Park Auto to anyone. I have always struggled to trust mechanic shops because I don't know a lot about cars and I always feel taken advantage of or overcharged - but not here. The people at this shop know me by name after having come by just a few times to get something fixed. Their prices are fair and honest, and they have even done quick diagnostics for free and sent me on my way if there are no issues. I have become a loyal customer and I will continue coming here for any car issues I may have in the future.

This was my second time getting my car repaired here. Both times, extremely polite, professional, and really listen/communicate well before performing any repairs, and do not push any additional services beyond the core issue. Total was much less than anticipated--very happy with my experience overall!

This was the third mechanic shop I tried after my car kept failing and no other mechanic knew how to accurately fix it! The repair was so simple and extremely affordable. Hands down - this place is my go-to now. I'm only sad it took me a few other shops and a lot of money until I tried this one! They obviously care about honesty and customer service.

After much thought I decided to post this because I would not want anyone to be taken advantage of. I took my 17 year old Jeep Liberty (only 86k miles) in for a "trip check" because I was planning on driving a good 800 miles over Thanksgiving weekend. The Hyde Park Service shop gave me the estimate shown on work needed to be done ASAP or else "my wheels would fall off" (scare tactic).
I was flabbergasted on the amount they were planning on charging me (my Jeep is not worth more than $4,000) so I took it in to the Jeep dealership in Overland Park and come to find out. the repairs needed weren't as dire as they claimed. I went ahead and had them do all of the work at the dealership and low and behold the total bill (parts & labor) was $823.60! Compared to what the thieves at Hyde Park Service wanted to charge me $1,911.51 minus the $45.00 fee for the Trip Check".
They wanted to overcharge me a total of: $1,042.40! It turns out they were charging me 3 times the cost for each part and twice as much for labor (per hour). Do they take advantage of all clients or only women? Do they think we're stupid and are not going to double check or get another opinion/quote? In my opinion this is unethical and morally wrong! Shame on them! I don't want an elderly person or someone out of desperation to be taken advantage of. please take your business to a reputable shop/garage/mechanic.

I've been coming to Hyde Park Service for years now. They're a no nonsense shop. They don't try to oversell you on unnecessary upgrades or fixes. They repair what's important, make suggestions for things that may require future attention, and don't leave you broke. Oil changes are waaaay faster here than any "jiffy" place or dealership. And they won't cost you an arm or a leg. Everyone here is super friendly and easy to work with.

I was in Kansas City for a week for a workshop I attended. I decided to road trip from Cleveland to make it an adventure. Well, I hit a curb and got a flat, and this garage was able to get me in right away. They are friendly, fair, and speedy. As I was waiting for someone to pick me up when I dropped off my car, I noticed that a lot of people came in and were addressed by name.
The AAA designation is what made me pick this garage for my repair, but I wish I had one like this where I live in Ohio! Outstanding service. Thank you for helping out a young solo traveler! I can't recommend you enough.

Very friendly and honest repair shop. My daughter recently moved to KC and had a car problem. Since we didn't know where to go I looked on Yelp and saw the good reviews of Hyde Park. I was equally as impressed. It turns out it was only a minor issue vs a major engine problem and they quickly diagnosed the problem and had her back on the road the same day.

This experience was AMAZING! I have a Volvo and it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find a reliable service station that can work on a Volvo. I DESPISE going to the dealership so I've been putting off an oil change and a/c work. In addition, my "maintenance needed" lights were on and not going anywhere;) I called Hyde Park Service as a referral from my friend Frank who goes to church with the owner.
I got in two days later and within 3 hrs my a/c was fully working, the oil was changed AND they were able to shut the "maintenance needed" light off! I'm not sure what happened with the negative reviews below--I guess everyone (customer and provider) can have bad days but I saw NONE of that! From Elliot that answered the phone and scheduled me to whomever repaired my Volvo I give more than 5 stars! And my bill: $89.00 At a dealership the quote was $350 (NO LIE). Love these guys!

I've been a regular here for at least 2 years now. This is by far the best place I have ever taken my car. They are very accommodating and always respect my appointment time by getting my oils change done quickly. They always make me feel appreciated as a customer and don't mind hanging out there while my car is worked on. I would trust them with anything and their service is always above par. I'll never go anywhere else!

I've taken my two Toyotas here for the last year and have received nothing but quick, courteous and well-priced service. In not particularly car savvy and appreciate their honest assessment of "what needs to be done now" versus what can be addressed later. Also, great place to take your car for a vehicular inspection!
