I was referred to come to this shop and all I can say is do not hesitate to get your work done here, this is one of the best differential building and regear shop in Houston hands down, other shops giving me a long turn around time and ridiculous pricing but these guys here get it done in a fast turn around time with a fair price and great customer service ever, had an issue and they took care of my rebuild and regear that I needed in a few days ready to go, I got 4:88s put in my JK and runs smooth, took it to Colorado after I regeared it and road like factory on the highway and good on the highway inclines too.

They did an amazing job, I will definitely come back and be a returning customer, thank you again for taking care of my Jeep. And to the previous customers who complained about him not working in it when you bring it, remember you're not the only customers waiting for work, be patient and it'll get done, don't be rude to them, it's worth the wait, I had to wait as well but only because others were ahead of mine for work but he got it done in a 2 days.

People do have lives too let the man enjoy his time it's not like your getting charge for days it's there so why complain? He's worth the wait take my word for it, I was the same asking him but common sense came into play when I noticed 4 other vehicles in the lot and 2 on the racks so don't complain people. And if you take your parts be sure you have everything if not just buy it from Mr. Allen it's the same price online with a labor charges just like a mechanic for new parts and installation and has everything we need for our Jeeps. It'll get taken care of take my word for it.

My baby Jeep is now healthy and back on the road! I took it to 249 when the rear axle went on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. Allen is a pro. He quickly troubleshooted the issue and took the time to thoroughly explain how he was planning to rebuild it. It's all done and drives great. This is a father/son operation, and you can definitely tell that they care about their business and customers. Thank you!

We had our gears changed to increase our towing capabilities. Very professional and great work. I would definitely bring another vehicle. The service was a year ago or longer. Quality work. Allen is great! This is Diona's husband making the post. Thank you Allen!

Don't waste your time. Spoke to the owner about getting some work done on a pair of axles. I could only get out the model of the axles before he started to talk. In the end, his arrogance got the best of him. One of the first things he said to me was "I've been in business for fuc$$$$ 40 years!" Really? I could care less. I wasn't there to interview him, I simply wanted a quote or if he didn't want the work, just say so.

He never did ask what I wanted done. When he started to babble about transmission work (which I don't need), I left. I can't even imagine letting him working on anything. You're only asking for trouble if you go down that road.

Had an unusual noise in the driveline; thought it might be the transfer case. A few folks recommended 249Driveline to me, so I gave them a call and Allen was able to get my Jeep in quickly. Thankfully, the issue was relatively minor; and Allen was top-notch. I've never met anyone who knows drivetrains and gears as well as he does! Jeep was in and out in three days, cost was very fair, work done was top grade. Would be glad to give him more work, or to recommend family or friends should they need.

Allen is very good and knows his Jeeps. He even followed up with me after the job to make sure all was good and ensured I was satisfied with the new gears he put in my Jeep. Some say he is a little "rough" but he just tells it like it is. If you want someone to sugar coat everything, go somewhere else. If you want someone who believes in what they do and knows how to do it right, go see Allen at 249 Drivetrain.

I took my 1990 Mustang to them to chase down gear noise. Ended up they had to do extra work to get it fixed including clearancing a brake caliper. Unfortunately, after they finished and pulled the car out of the shop, the car rolled down an incline and damaged the trunk lid and bumper. Allen immediately took responsibility and reimbursed the cost. I give them 5 stars for great work and stepping up when a mistake was made. He will get all of my rear end business going forward. I really enjoyed working with this shop.

Allen and Ryan do fantastic work! I was referred to this place by another reviewer (Garrett) and am happy I came to these guys. I have a 2015 F150 with oversized tires. New gears made all the difference in the world. Got all my power back. And would not have trusted my truck to anyone else. Don't go anywhere else. As a hint? Bring a dog toy for Allen's dog. Not sure why others gave bad reviews. maybe because they don't understand the complexity of this type of work. It takes patience and time to do this right!

Simply excellent, from start to completion! Allen was a pleasure to talk too and they able to change the gear in one day. I love my 3.73's. Thanks guys. (and no I'm not affiliated with the shop for all you paranoid people, just a happy customer that feels like credit is due for quality work these days. God knows it's hard to find. :)

Some may shy away from this place because the proprietor uses "adult language". As for me, I found him rather entertaining. I choose to spend my money based on quality and value, and it is clear this guy is a master at his craft. Wanting to upgrade the gears in my 2015 Jeep, I chose 249 DT because one of their specialties is Jeep drive trains (amongst many others). The quality and value were on point and I will be recommending my Bayou City Jeep Club Members have their drive train service performed here. Great work, and great value!

When searching for a shop to install gears in my 2015 Jeep, I did a lot of research. I narrowed it down to three and settled on 249 DT because one of their specialties is Jeep drive trains. Their prices were better than any other shop I found, they use quality parts, and offer a 12 mo/12,000mi warranty. I picked up my Jeep yesterday, and I am VERY happy.

As President of a Jeep Club, I will be referring my Members to 249 DT for all of their drive train work. I find the online reviews about this business to be very positive on quality and value (as was in my case), and negative because Allen is a little "rough around the edges". I personally don't care if the guy uses curse words as a regular part of his vernacular provided he is an expert at his craft - and he is.

In spite of what some may dislike about the proprietor himself, my overall experience with his business was great and I highly recommend it for its quality and value. Thanks, Allen!

249 Drive Train repaired my old Jeep clutch that two other auto repair places made worse upon "fixing". He was honest and fair, and yes, tells it like it is, but I was happy to hear what he had to say, he knows his Jeep drive trains. If you search "249 drive train" you will see feedback by other Jeep owners as doing top rate work. You do have to schedule, he stays very busy.

The reviews below are what is wrong with Yelp. They never did business with 249 drivetrain, they just cried when he the owner told it like it was. This guy did a great job on my truck! New gears and LS Diff!

!Do not support this business! I called this shop today to inquire about a carrier for my differential. He told me that he had one available for me and another new one that may possibly fit. I asked him if it was possible to buy it then run it down to my mechanic to make sure it fits. He agreed to the terms and said "just come by with cash. I'll put it in a drawer for you, and you can give me a call confirming if it fit or not" so I can return it and get my money back if it didn't (I was gonna buy both to avoid any trips back).

I thought this was perfect, just the kinda guy I needed. This is where it all goes south. As soon as I arrived at his poor excuse for an establishment, which has no sign btw, I was greeted by a rude man, the owner. It was a condescending tone of disrespect from the get go. I told him that I was the gentleman that called about the carrier and that I wanted to examine them to see the status; he goes on to tell me that he won't sell me it without sizing it up with my old one.

I told him on the phone that this wasn't going to be possible due to time restraints, and he agreed to it then, but he obviously is not a man of his word. He continued to belittle my efforts n simply dismissed me after trying to reinstate what was said on the phone, saying, "I'm not gonna argue with you. I'm not gonna sell you it". I quickly realized that I wasn't dealing with a professional that cares about his customers or reputation, and gladly left. I never witnessed such a lack of professionalism or courtesy at a establishment before. Stay far away from the pathetic excuse for a business

This place is a joke. I had a carrier bearing go out on my truck. My regular mechanic who I trust (see my review) diagnosed the issue after a crazy noise under my truck. He showed me exactly where it was and what it was going take to fix it. He suggested I take it to an axle/drivetrain shop as they would be able to fix it since his shop would have to send the driveshaft out for the repair anyway.

I called a few axle shops and got quotes for about 200-300 for the repairs. I called this place because it was closest to me. When the guy answered the phone, I told him the year, make, and model of my truck and that my regular mechanic told me I needed a carrier bearing. I asked him to estimate the cost. He became rude and said regular mechanics don't know anything about drivetrain and I would have to bring to his shop for a tear down.

I told him there is nothing internal. I told him the rear end is fine, I just need a carrier bearing. He insisted that I bring it in so they could tear it down. He basically told me over the phone that I might have to a minimum $600 for them to look at it and up to $2500 on a new rear end because he can't source parts from Nissan. This is not a complicated repair, but one that requires a specialty shop.

I tried again to explain that I just needed the bearing installed, but he was very rude and dismissive. I found another shop that installed my carrier bearing and u-joints for less than $300 and I was done in about an hour. I can't speak to the quality of their work, but their attitude is just horrible.
