I have a 1973 Grumman Olson Step Van I've been slowly bringing back to life. I have worked at multiple shops over the years and usually perform all my own repairs. I have been wrenching since I was little and consider myself fairly experienced. I dropped my van off at Country Automotive for a brake and light inspection so I can register my van with the DMV.
A lot of mechanics don't take the time to do proper inspections or perform repairs at a professional level anymore but Country Automotive does. They obviously take pride in what they do and have my business from here on out. My van has a full floating axle that has to be removed for a rear brake inspection. When inspecting the rear brakes they found that the rear hub seals had failed leaking gear oil from the differential which ruined the new brake shoes I installed.
After measuring the drums to ensure they were within spec they took the time to wash the drums as well as the bearings in their parts cleaner and found that the bearings were pitted and needed to be replaced. I am greatful they found this issue and repaired it as I would have been dealing with this down the road and left stranded. This level of inspection, attention to detail and quality labor is very rare these days.
Most people would have replaced the seals, brake cleaned the drums, replaced the shoes and sent it on its way. Their efforts are greatly appreciated. I couldn't pickup my van during regular business hours so they hid my keys and paperwork in a secure spot after taking a credit card payment over the phone which was very accommodating and again appreciated. Mike and his team are amazing.
The price is fair for the level of quality you are getting. Mike was even kind enough to work with me on pricing due to my budget. Bring them a pack of beer for their efforts as this amazing team deserves to be treated as well as they will treat you.

Country Automotive took good care of me - as always. Since the last time I had been there, I've had a string of brand new cars which then were Dealer serviced. It was refreshing when I now had an "older" that needed some attention that I found Country was still the no-nonsense straight-shooters I've known them to be for over 25 years. Thanks Country - glad you are still there and still your old reliable selves. Stay safe!

Critical: Value My Toyota Tacoma has never brought trouble to me except this time when I left it for smog check. It took me check for three times, driving 300 miles to pass the test at this store. Even more ridiculous I got bill $370 just for smog! Never, never trust him! It's the worst experience ever at Morgan Hill.

We've used Country Automotive for everything from LOF changes to replacing a transmission. Smitty is knowledgeable, thorough and the work is good. When there's been an intermittent or a subtle problem, they've gone through the necessary steps to make it right quickly. We've taken vehicles from a Boxster to a 15,000lb flatbed and other than limitations on lift capacity for the flatbed, they've handled everything. Smitty will cheerfully suggest when the dealer is a better solution, for example on the Mercedes Diesel.

Customer service is the best. Very attentive to my needs in repairing my car in a timely and efficient manner. Smitty and his staff communicated what needed to be completed, how they were going to do it, and were accurate in their pricing and evaluation. Can I give them a bonus star? Glad I found a mechanic and business that is reputable and a pleasure doing business with in Morgan Hill.

My 1962 Chrysler had a worn out steering box which they removed it, had it rebuilt and reinstalled it. This tied up a a part of their shop for a week or so. Not many shops want to make the sacrifice of floor space for that long for an old car. It is also difficult to find a place with such professionals who reassembled everything as it was supposed to be, and it worked perfectly.
They quickly found an emergency brake problem I had and fixed that. Having an old car, it is hard to find a shop which looks for what is best for the car instead of what is beast for their bottom line. I sincerely appreciate the interest they take in getting my repairs down right.
