PLEASE TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO ANOTHER SHOP. I had a fuel pump go out on my truck. I was told they would have my truck back to me the following day (that would have been a Friday). I never even received a phone call that Friday that my vehicle was not finished. They are closed on Sat/Sun. I called back on Monday and they said that it would take roughly 3 weeks to get my fuel pump in.
I then called multiple dealerships in town (sourced my own parts) and found the pump at multiple locations. I offered to go pick up the part in effort to speed the process up. Perkins declined my offer and waited another full day to go get the part from a dealership that I sourced for them. This was a $199 part, Perkins then marked up my part to $300 (I understand this is another avenue for mechanic shops to make money).
I then went to pick up my truck and the service light was still on so I returned it immediately. While the mechanics were trying to figure out the issue they got in to a verbal argument throwing around the F word at one another as if a customer was not even standing there. The mechanics were both smoking in the shop with my windows down. I received a call that night that my truck was fixed and ready to pick up.
Since the mechanics were smoking somebody shoved air fresheners in my vehicle to try and cover up the smell, not to mention the following morning my check engine light was right back on. I then took my vehicle to Ford as I was 100% done with this shop. The issue was that the Perkins mechanics did not re-attach some hoses from their previous work. I paid Perkins full price then had to pay Ford as well, I have over $1000 in a FUEL PUMP (a $199 part)!
It took the owner 3 days to call me back and he was not willing to refund any monies at all for the poor quality of work and the absolutely terrible customer experience. I really wanted to stay local and keep my money local is why I used them in the first place. PLEASE, use another local shop other than Perkins. Poor Ownership, poor quality of work/communication, terrible chemistry with their employees internally. I genuinely felt terrible for the employees working in that shop as there was 0 working chemistry.

I would never reccomend taking your vehicle to this place. Long story short they drove my truck across town to one of their other locations without even consulting me first then left my car there. They apparently needed a special tool to tell me I had a hole in cylinder 6 and I needed a new motor. They quoted me around $7,000 to fix my truck. I then had it towed to a different mechanic for a second opinion who I had take apart the motor to verify what they were saying.
Come to find out I had no hole in my #6 piston and for less than $2,000 I had my truck up and going again. I have called multiple times to discuss this with the shop owner/manager and he is never around and doesn't return my calls. This place is just trying to rip people off. Don't trust what they say, take it somewhere else to get work done, anywhere else!

Unprofessional, disorganized, no masks, building is falling apart, and it smells like smoke inside. I showed up to pick up my uhaul truck and was told my uhaul was in Lee's Summit. When I asked if they could reach out to the Lee's Summit location to straighten out the situation, I was told "Yeah, you can call them". Cool. I'll just take care of your incompetence myself. Never coming to this place for anything ever again.

Went in for an inspection and got my car back with a major leak in the rack and pinion. They're estimated repair was almost $1000 to replace. Did the job myself in under 2 hours for under $300. Their part $506, actual cost $159. No mention of labor rate or time either just the amount of money they wanted. Completely amateur shop with only one mechanic so plan on waiting if you actually want them to fix something, I overheard him tell numerous customers they would have to wait a week before he could even look at their vehicle. If you don't need your vehicle anytime soon and have cash to waste, this is your place.

If I could give this place zero stars I would the service was terrible. I asked them to do one simple thing drop the tank and make sure my front tank was not only fuel from the back tank and that was too difficult for them instead they left my vent tube unhooked and did not even tell me and not even take fault for what they did called them and told them I wanted my money back and he refused to take responsibility for For what they did nor fix the problem they caused so now my truck is no longer drivable until I can fix it I would recommend nobody go to this place because they would do the same thing to use what they did to me also the owner or manager Was not willing to take responsibility for what their employees did did you guys have any car problems I would recommend taking your car somewhere else before I would ever take it back to them

The people here we're great! Dropped my car off on Tuesday because I thought something was wrong with my brakes, turned out my boots were messed up too. They said it wouldn't be ready until Monday but then they called Thursday saying it was all ready to be picked up! Great service would come back again!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. These store send people to sell Perkins vouchersand coupons. Before I bought this, it was clarified that they work on plenty of cars with interlocks. They have been unable to help me because of an ignition interlock device. Which has never been a problem at any other mechanic. I took my car in on my scheduled appointment.
They apparently tried to start it 3 times and gave up. They just not of tried because it started right up for me. My car has been there all day mind you. Never got a call, and my phone number is on file. Just picked it up and FIRESTONE of all people took it, started it, and is working on it. They will not do any refunds on the trash they sold me. "Take it up with the owner" instead of doing what's right. If you "pre charge" for a service and cannot follow through, give a refund.

I took my car in to have it fixed. Said they would take a look. They did and I told them I would let them know if I was going to bring it back to get fixed. The cost for the repair seemed pretty high. I called another company and they gave me a price of $50 LESS than Perkins. When I called back to find out which of my ignition coils was bad, because it was not marked on my print out, I was told they didn't have that information because the mechanic didn't write it down!?
How can you be a mechanic and NOT write down what part of the vehicle is needing repair!? Are you kidding me. Second time I've had a problem with these people, and I will NOT be going back. Not to mention, the woman at the front desk is the ONLY nice person there.

Ripped me off. My dad took my car there to get my blower fan looked at because it wasn't working but the moment I dropped it off the fan started working again like it never even had a problem. I thought well may as well have it looked at anyway, assuming it was just a loose wire or something simple. The next day while I'm at work, Perkins called my dad and said it needed to be replaced.
My loving but lacking common sense father told them to do it and he went and paid for it and Perkins never even consulted me, the actual owner of the vehicle. On top of that when I get the vehicle back there is a large crack in the dashboard. This place is a scam.

Went in for a Safety Inspection on my six year old car. When I went online to register, the State site asked for my safety inspection sticker number. I did not have one. I called the shop and they told me I had asked for the wrong inspection (ID OD) and that I needed a different one (MO ID). I had no idea there were two different kinds. I asked for a safety inspection so I could register my car.
They told me I would have to pay again to get a sticker. Went to a different shop and was told the inspection certificate they gave me was only for newer cars recently purchase, not for a six year old car. I was told the shop should have known this. I cannot give them a favorable review since they offered nothing to make their mistake right. UPDATE: I went to Perkins Automotive Service Website to see if I could port a copy of this review there.
I noticed they show they are associated with the Better Business Bureau. I decided to check it out, but when I searched for Perkins Automotive, could not find them associated with the BBB. I searched Perkins Automotive and Perkins Automotive Service. I started searching BBB accredited businesses and then went generic. I contacted the BBB and they responded stating that the business is listed as Perkins Service Station. It was found using one of the phone numbers listed on the Perkins Automotive Service Web site.

They are under new management now! The new manager Jason treated me fantastic! He really made me feel as comfortable as possible being that my car was broken down and towed in there. They fixed it and I have not had any issues and the price was pretty good. I am very happy knowing I have a new place to take my car from now on!

I agree with other reviewers. BE WARNED if you gamble with Perkins Automotive. 7 years ago, had a fan motor go out on a Jeep. The part and work should have been under warranty, but they charged me 3 times in the course of year to fix it before I got fed up and took my business elsewhere. I swore I'd never go back. 2 weeks ago, I needed a quick vehicle inspection and "stangely" they were the only ones in town that had a schedule free enough that I could just come straight in.
After an hour of sitting in their waiting room, they came back in to let me know the drive shaft broke while they were backing it out of the their garage. Guess who got to pay $1000 to replace a simple drive shaft?!?! When driving it home, I noticed a strange smell that I first thought was just some excess grease or oil burning off due to the work.
It is a spare car for me, so I didn't drive it again until the weekend. That Saturday, the scent was stronger and I realized it was fresh gear oil leaking out of the area they just worked on. The car had never leaked and this was a BIG leak right at the area of the seal. I brought it back in on Monday, and they told me that I would have to pay for 3 hours of service "just to find out where the leak was coming from" when it was very obvious. Knowing their background of shadiness.
I had asked to look under the car as soon as they put it on the lift. The manager made it clear they wouldn't stand behind, nor warranty any of the shady work they'd done, and didn't care they'd sent me home in a vehicle with a fresh gear oil leak (probably hoping they'd get some transmission work out of it as well). At that point, I let them know I'd made a BIG mistake taking my vehicle to them and would take my business elsewhere and be sure that others do the same! AND MIND YOU, they were the ones driving when the drive shaft broke in the first place!
