Services
Belts and hoses have one of the shortest life spans of your cars components but are some of most critical components in keeping your car running. Bad belts and hoses can result in over heating, charging problems, squeeking, etc. Squealing, grinding, vibration when you press your brake pedal all indicate that your brakes and rotors may be worn and require replacement.
The steering and suspension system on your vehicle is responsible for maintaining comfortable riding conditions and driving performance. The steering and suspension system also helps drivers remain in control of their vehicles at all times. The suspension system converts forward energy created by bumps in the road into vertical energy that travels up into the vehicle frame.
Preventive maintenance is the care and protection of your vehicle against potential major auto repairs. Negligence is the most common and costly way to see money wasted on repairs that could have easily been prevented through regular service intervals. Depending on your vehicle's manufacturer, avoiding preventive maintenance on certain parts and components has the potential to void warranty coverage. Car maintenance intervals have been designed to improve the reliability, durability, and resale value of your vehicle.
Your vehicle's starting and charging system is involved in regulating multiple electrical processes to start your vehicle's engine and keep it running. The starting system consists of the battery, a starter motor, and a starter solenoid responsible for starting the engine, while the charging system consists of an alternator and voltage regulator.

Horrible experience. went to get a sticker. mechanic was rude lacking basic common curtesy and customer service. Rough with car when pulling out of the bay he wiped the car around almost hitting the other vehicle in parking lot. Spoke to owner explained that the precious owner was well known and liked in the community and the they took pride in the service they provided. He said there are other places you can go to. and I said and I will. but my question to you sir is how do You and your business want to be known in the community?

So for all of my years of having cars I would do my own work- because I had the knowledge of how to do it. For the very first time I decided okay I do not want to do it myself its cooler out - it gets darker earlier and I make enough cash to send it out. So I sent it here the location is super local to me. Rich took my car in with all of my Moog parts I purchased.

Tie rod ends and my ball joints. I have used this reliable and quality brand for many years on many cars no issues. So he keeps my car a few days then calls and tells me I need an axle and wheelbearing. Sure whatever I mean it all could have been done without touching all of it like cutting the bolt instead off but okay. Went from a $600 to a $1200 bill.

I know by the books the computer allots what to charge for a job and I was paying for 9 hours of labor which the job def didn't take that long but its the cost of sending a car out. I get my car back a few days later at night. So the next day after not even driving 50 miles MY TIRE PULLS OFF and gets dragged 40 feet. Me without a car. He claims there was no c clip for my lower ball joint thats why it failed.that c clip for your brand I had never heard of is on the other half of the ball joint not on the side that actually broke.no it doesn't need one even moog backed me in the fact that the bolt to the lower ball joint was stripped on.and when it came apart all the threads on the king nut were gone as well.

So I call him because he did the work. asked if I knew anyone for a tow and I didn't off hand so he's like okay send me your address - me thinking oh okay he's going to make this right- mind you now the ball joint is ruined, the axle is ruined, my tire and alignment are now ruined. Takes my car in for another 3 days makes me buy.another ball joint and he covers the axle.

Completely ignores the fact my tire is ruined (yes I needed tires before had as my inspection is due but the drag ruined the tires more) but thats okay needed new tires anyways and the body damage to my car - my fender didn't bend itself. and tries to blame my part for failing. whatever just get it fixed I okayed it. Side note the original part the oem that was in there before I even sent it in failed shortly after hitting a pot hole in construction- where the tire ripped off was a nice road in wayland and we were going 30mph no potholes or anything in the road.

The day I pick it up he then drops the line oh it's $150 for the two that was approx 7 miles. I just paid it so I could get my car back. He never realigned my car he told me to get new tires. He destroyed my car. I got home and looked at everything and MY LOWER CONTROL ARM is destroyed. And my upper ball joint on that same side is destroyed and also my steering rack is messed up.

Do not go to this place. $1400 later after literally buying a new front end for my car it is completely in shambles and I have to undo all of this work. Lesson learned. Stay away - if I could do zero stars I would.

I paid R&L $137.00 to diagnose a noise coming from the left side of my truck. I was told it was the rear e-brakes and the pivot points were seized. They have me an estimate of $805.00 to change the brakes, e-brakes rotors and pivots. I bought all parts for less than $200.00. It only took me an hour and a half to do the work outside my apartment. I was very disappointed to find out the issue was not the brakes at all.

It was the 4x4 actuator on the front left. I took it to an another mechanic who is doing the job for $150.00 which by the way is a lot more work than a brake job. He said he would have carried out the brake job with parts for $400.00. I tried calling L&R to complain about their service a couple of times but am clearly being ignored. I was also disappointed to find that my brakes were fine and only the right side e-brake was bad but nothing was loose or seized as described by L&R. I still replaced it all as I had already bought the parts. I recommend anyone thinking of using these guys to think twice. Over priced and unreliable. Stay clear!

Rich is without a doubt the person who has the awareness and knowledge to get the job completed right! Unlike many, Rich has a broad knowledge of the entire inner workings of all vehicles, which stems from the development of an "auto-mind" (for lack of a better word) that can only stem from years of experience! Recently, my car was towed to Rich with a not so straight forward detection of issue, yet Rich stayed with it as if a morning crossword puzzle that needed full completion for that sense of "I did it!" In other words, I feel Rich has just as much of a sense of relief as the owner of a car in distress when not stumped by a car!

In helping my 91 year old father in-law find out if his 2013 VW Passat was due for maintenance, we found his last invoice from R&L Automotive. I was shocked at the price he was charge for very basic maintenance items. Last September he had the following done: - change oil and filter - change air filter element - change 5 spark plugs The bill was almost $400! Looking at the breakdown, 5 qts of synthetic oil and filter $74.59 plus labor. (~$25 at an auto parts store Air filter - $41.29 plus $35.85 labor (cost ~$8 and can be replaced in a minute or two.) Spark Plugs - cost about $2.50 ea. at parts store, they charge $16.74 each! plus $71.69 labor!

To clear the service reminder light on dash - $35.85 labor. Then to round it out they add $28.02 for "Shop Supplies" Steer clear of this place unless you like getting soaked for auto maintenance.

Rich is the man! We've been taking our cars to him for years. He does good work at fair prices and has gone above and beyond to help with drop off and pickup.

Avoid this place. Here's what He tried to do to me. Check Eng. lite came on. He gave a free check, then told me it was Oxygen Sensors (3 out of 4) bad. He quoted $700.00 to replace all 4. I left. My car has ONLY two OS's. 1 is right in front and I replaced it myself for $52.00 in less than 15 minutes. The second one was NOT bad.

We took our Nissan Maxima to Rich (the owner). He seemed to be a nice guy, until he actually did the work on our car. We had to have brakes and calipers done. we bought the parts from brake dealer in town. Rich did the job and not even a day later the brakes sounded worse then they did before we brought the car in. We took the car back and all we got from Rich was that "the brake parts we bought were faulty", and another bill from him!

We bought new brake parts from a different dealer, and the brakes still sound terrible. way worse then they ever were. We are now looking for a new mechanic to do the job right (basically undo what Rich did)! I wouldn't recommend this mechanic to my worst enemy. He has zero pride in his work and certainly does not care about having return customers.

Absolutely awful. Totally ripped me off. I had my car towed there, was from several miles out of town, and unfortunately the owner, Ritchie, knew this and took advantage. I was charged more than double what I should have been charged for the repair done, and when I questioned the pricing, he just said "OK, well, then come get it.". He knew this was not an option for me, so knew I had to pay up.

I have had this same repair done to the same car previously, and it cost less than half of what Ritchie charged me. On top of this, since I was from an hour plus away from Hudson, I could not pick up the car during business hours. I wanted to pay by phone/CC so I could pick up the car after hours, which I have done several times in the past at other shops. Ritchie refused, citing the fact that he had to pay a small service fee for that type of transaction, which made me re-arrange my schedule and drive cross-state during my work day. Rude, condescending, price-gouging all describe R & L
