They seem nice but try to drain you of your money. They're a car shop in a college town scamming college students out of their money. They tried to tell us a small part for our car would be ~$900. When we disapproved the fix (to take it somewhere else), THAT's when they decided to charge us $160 for even looking at it, when we already knew what the problem was. Avoid this place at all costs.

This shop is AMAZING! They are super kind, FAST, and provide quality service! Another mechanic shop, who I will not name, had our truck for a WEEK and hadn't even touched it. Car Craft got our truck, diagnosed it, and FIXED IT within a few hours. They kept me updated and informed each step of the way and I never had to worry. They are truly a blessing! We will definitely be back here for our car needs!

My brake pedal kept slowly going to the floor when sitting at a traffic light. The car stopped okay, but I didn't want to take any chances. They diagnosed it as the brake master cylinder. I was skeptical because there were no leaks, but they were right. I elected to do the front brake pads and rotors and the rear brake pads at the same time, since they were almost worn out. They replaced it all in no time and I haven't had a problem since.

I got 2 check engine codes indicating a problem with 02 sensors or fuel pump. I changed the 02 sensor myself. But the issue only got worse. So I took it to Car Craft and they said it was the brake booster, which should have nothing to do with the symptoms (hesitation, rough idle, etc). But it actually was the problem and they were 100% correct. They could have pushed an expensive fuel pump replacement on me, but they didn't.
I'm not saying you should totally trust any repair shop, but Car Craft just might be one of the rare honest shops out there. I will definitely be going back and suggest them to anyone looking for an honest mechanic.

Some of the friendliest staff in any business I've been to! They were incredibly communicative, searched to make sure I was getting the best deal for my repairs, and gave me a ride home after I dropped my car off (they offer a shuttle service that will take you to or from Car Craft/your house). This is my second time bringing my car here and both experiences have been great. Highly recommend!

I am very impressed with this shop. I had my daughter's car towed to them as she is a student at the University and I am not in Athens. Diana who answered the phone numerous times was so helpful and gracious. She went out of her way to assure me of their efforts to get the car ready for my daughter as soon as possible. I trust them and their rates seem to be very much in line and reasonable. They even called the towing company to pick up my car and simply added that charge to my invoice from them. Again, very impressive shop.

Really professional location! Brought in my Volkswagen because when I asked around town the best spot for Volkswagen maintenance, this place was mentioned several times. They did a good job of explaining issues and what they did. Also they have a great shuttle service! Never seen that before at a mechanic, so that was really neat and great customer service. Also, they had adorable Halloween decorations. Great spot :

Potemkin village. They talk like professionals, but then put the wrong oil in my car and didn't even do the tire rotation they charged me for. At first the customer service rep lied about the oil even though it was on the invoice as the wrong oil. Put permanent marker numbers on your tires-how did I know? It's not my first rodeo getting scammed like this.
They think people won't notice-and most don't. The only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1 is the owner apologized and gave me a refund when confronted. I give him the benefit of the doubt (at least two of) his underlings went rogue.

Great place with professional staff and honest service. They maintain both my Audi and my F-150. They will maintain and repair my future vehicles. I have done much of my own repair work over the years so I know my way around a vehicle. These guys are for real. If they tell you you need a repair then you need the repair. I trust them. You need to find a shop that you can partner with to maintain and repair your vehicle and this is the place.
A tip from an old guy that has the experience of age. Maintain your vehicle. Do the preventative maintenance. It will save you money and heartache in the future. Your call. My wife summed it up on the way to pick up my truck yesterday when she said that they are so nice and that she feels comfortable going in for service or repairs.

I bought a vehicle from Car Craft last week. On the way home the ac was blowing hot air. Tried adding freon but no luck. The vehicle was sold as is with no warranty. I called Tyler at Car Craft the next day and he told me to bring it in at my convenience. The next day they fixed the problem ($350) in a couple of hours and didn't charge me a dime. I will be recommending them to everyone! They just earned a customer for life!

I recently purchased a vehicle from Tyler at Car Craft. I have been extremely happy with my Infiniti! The price was great and Tyler made the purchasing process super easy. I will definitely go back for my next vehicle. Thanks again Tyler for staying really late after closing hours so I could leave with the car that same day!

My daughter's 2003 Subaru died on her way home last week. Had it towed here because of word of mouth about this place. They got it in looked it over and gave me the news. Not good not so bad. Ordered the parts and had it back on the road in a few days. Joel was super friendly and treated my daughter very nice. They even offered to pick her up if needed once the car was done. If you got s child in Athens and are having car issues give him a call. You'll be treated like you should.

On our trip through Georgia our beloved 2003 VW Eurovan had engine troubles. Another Auto place recommended Car Craft for our VW. What a great recommendation. They were professional both in our communication and their work. Our car was left clean and runs better than it has in a while. They carefully explained the repair and the price was less than I expected. I heartily recommend Car Craft to anyone, particularly owners of older VWs. What a wonderful experience.

I've been using this garage for about 20 years now, but my latest experience with them has left me feeling a bit disconcerted. My wife's Kia Soul was making one of those really bad, expensive-sounding noises so I told her to take it in and get it checked out. Car Craft diagnosed a worn out right front wheel bearing and quoted $300+/- $25 to replace it.
When my wife goes to pick it up, she is hit with a bill -$675 instead with no call for approval to go above and beyond the quoted amount. I do mechanical work myself (not automotive) and I know you can't always know in advance exactly what you are getting into until you tear an assembly down sometimes, but I do think a call for approval of the addition expenditure would have been in order here.

I have never felt more taken advantage of in my entire life. Car Craft had my car for exactly 30 days before I received it back in working order. I was told that I would be getting it back at the end of the first week, or the beginning of the following week at the longest, a 3-4 day repair at the most. The original estimate was $1400. Upon completing the initial repair on my transmission, the owner, Steve, "a good Christian man" in his own words, called to inform me that the repair did not work, my car could not be driven at all now, I would still be charged for the repair, and that another 4-5k repair would be necessary to get my car in working order again.
Because of the hassle, Steve, informed me that he would do what he could to help me with the cost. Upon paying my $5300 bill, 30 days later, I was told that using a credit card would cost me another $100, a 2% charge to my total. Thanks a lot Car Craft. I came to you because of a reputation for honesty and quality work. I picked up on none of this. In fact, I would recommend any shop in Athens over these manipulative con artists. They sure know how to make their money. I'll give them that.

My husband and I got a checkup for our Nissan Cube at Car Craft on Hawthorne Ave. on the very high recommendation from a well-trusted friend. We wanted to make sure the car was road worthy before a cross-country trip, and Car Craft mechanics did a very thorough inspection of the entire car before letting us know the good news: all we needed was an oil change!
The customer service is excellent, plus both people we worked with were very polite and good to talk to. As far as the work goes: they're really knowledgeable--and affordable! This is where we'll go from here on out.

The owner, Steve, is a good guy running an honest business. At the end of the ordeal, I got back a car that was repaired as I requested. However, there were some serious snags that potential customers should look out for. 1.) My car was at CarCraft for almost exactly a month for a combination of routine maintenance (timing belt etc), parts replacement (clutch master cyl) and repair of a fuel leak at my fuel pump.
To be fair, ~1 wk of this was over xmas/new years so they were closed for several days in there. Despite the holidays, for this combination of repairs to exceed a week seems a bit much. In hindsight, I would have pressed for commitment to a completion time/date before beginning work. 2.) CarCraft needs to do a better job of test-driving and/or confirming completed repairs before releasing the car to the customer.
The first time I went to pick the car up, it literally broke down before I made it out of their parking lot. The 2nd time I went to pick it up, I found finger-tight loose bolts holding my power steering pump on (this was removed during replacement of timing belt etc). It wasn't until the 3rd time car was "ready" that I could actually drive it home.
No one is perfect, but this stuff needs to be caught before the customer is told car is ready and billed thousands of dollars. This leads me to. 3.) GET A WRITTEN ESTIMATE BEFORE ALLOWING THEM TO BEGIN WORK. CarCraft charges a fair $85/hr for labor and all parts used on my car were good quality parts at a fair price. However, I feel like labor time billed was excessive.
How much time a job "should" take is obviously subjective. That said, I sure wish I could go back in time and ask for a written estimate before beginning work as I feel it might have saved me big bucks. At the end of the day, I would consider using this repair facility again.only difference is that I would press for time estimate, price estimate, and repair confirmation before pick up.
