I have been an ASE certified Master technician for 20 plus years. It has always been a dream of mine to own my own shop. In September 2015 that dream came true when my wife and I purchased L & R Automotive from Vic and Alison Lively. We wanted to make a difference in the automotive industry by offering honesty and integrity while offering value to our customers. We feel that helping out in the community is important as well. Our motto is treating people the way we would like to be treated. I enjoy camping, fly fishing, hunting and volunteering with Boy Scouts.

I have been going to L & R For over 30 years. Never been happier than with this auto shop. However I brought my car in today for full checkup and was told that front suspension had to be replace deven though I had spent over a thousand dollars replacing the exact same thing the year before at this same auto repair shop. Makes very little sense. I decided to not carry through on any more repairs on this 25 year old car. I would have thought that I would have been given some kind of reduction in price for the work the exact work they had performed the year before. Oh well live and learn.

Charged 140 for diagnostics, to tell us what we already knew, and added 18.20 for the plastic (9.10 for supplies + 9.10 for disposal) they put over the seat. The vehicle inspection is typical for a mechanic to do, to let you know about other issues, but to charge 158$ for it (not optional) is strange. Their quoted price for the job was way out of line.
We took out sienna there just to see how much it would cost to have the blower motor replaced (it is right behind the glove box and comes out with 3 screws) and without them fixing anything, just giving us a 500$+ quote, cost us 158$. We found another place near by that would charge 180 for the part and 140$ (maybe less) for the labor, no mandatory inspection. Steer clear of L&R Automotive -- they are preying on those that don't know what things should cost. There are plenty of other shops in the area that are honest, this one is not. They do have complimentary drinks, but that's little consolation for being ripped off.

Oscar is nice, but I was quoted $2,150 for replacing front and rear struts on 2010 Prius. After speaking with two reputable shops in the area, I was surprised to find out this is nearly double what others in the area are charging. I did get a swag bag full of L&R branded items that will likely end up in a landfill, so I guess that's good? I was also left to clean up the protectant plastic and booties they left in the vehicle. Edit in response to owner's reply: This is by no means a Nike vs Payless situation.
I had the exact same OEM parts quoted by shops who specialize in Toyota repairs. L&R were just not competitive in the least in this particular situation, so I'm recommending customers to please call around first before accepting their initial estimate.

L & R Automotive Did all the things on my list, didn't charge me for some of them, fixed the other issues, took care with my vehicle, and i feel confident i paid a fair price for good service and work done. Also really liked there application, where they would do inspections take photo's and post them online so I could see status of vehicle and any issues they found during the inspection.

Service was easy to get in, prices are a little high and the work promised was not completely finished. I had requested for my turn signal to be fixed when I was driving home it acts like it was shorting out, I did mention it to them in an email but never received a reply. I also had a gift certificate which was said to be honored when I paid my bill and was not.

First time here to get an oil change and some car issues looked at - I chose this spot because I've had some bad experiences with other automotive places in the past, and my boyfriend loves this place and recommended it to me. Oscar was so awesome! First off, they send pictures of their inspection and Oscar took the time to explain on the phone what was going on with me car before giving me a quote.
He was very friendly and helpful. Upon pickup of my car he greeted me by name and answered all of my questions and gave me great advice for car care. They left a nice little goodie bag in the car with some air freshener, hand sanitizer and other l&r merch. I'm relieved to have found a great automotive spot!

We were planning to have them do repairs to our vehicle due to what we thought were good reviews. BEWARE. After we had the vehicle towed there we learned that we had to go elsewhere to be covered by our insurance. My wife immediately went there to have the car towed to another facility. This place was extremely rude to my wife and told her she either needed to let them work on it or have the car removed by Noon. Highly unacceptable business practice. I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR SERVICE.

Having work done on you vehicle is always a serious matter. Having researched on line to see local shops in my area, I started following L&R Automotive reviews and I see an honest business doing the right work for the customers for the right price. I have taken one of my vehicles to them and am very pleased with the work that I had done. It was a lot of work, (I thought) but they were very swift and precise in their evaluation of what needed to be done to fix my vehicle.
Then they fixed it very quickly. Dealing mainly with Oscar, it was a very good experience and I highly recommend L&R Automotive. I will not hesitate to take my vehicles to them for all future work. Thanks everyone at L&R Automotive for the great job you do.

Always hesitant to try a new auto shop, especially last minute, but I am VERY happy I found L&R auto before taking my car across country. They were EXTREMELY fair and honest, with quality service. I will be recommending them to everyone in the Arvada/Denver area. Especially to my fellow ladies (and men!) who have had bad auto experiences before with unfair pricing, this is a great place for you and to feel that you're getting fair prices and service.

Oscar was very friendly and helpful when I described my issues with my 2012 Xterra. He got my vehicle right in and had a reasonable estimate to me within a few hours and I was able to get the work done that day! Not only was the work done quickly but they washed my truck as well! Absolutely recommend these guys for any automotive work you need!

My neighbor in Leyden Rock recommended this shop because I was tired of the poor service and work at the chain shops. I scheduled with Oscar who has mad phone skills and demeanor - was he a receptionist in another life? He, and the staff, were just as cool in person and even washed my car after servicing it on my first (of what will become MANY) visits there.
I appreciate that they give back to the community, too, facilitating toy drives for a couple of charities this holiday season - and offering customers a credit towards future service in exchange for dropping off a new toy. All around - GREAT place!

I live in Arvada and needed a check up for my used car before a long road trip. I found L & R here on Yelp and decided to go to them after reading reviews, and because they were so close to home. The process was super easy and great! I dropped my car off and within a couple hours they had a diagnostic for me in the form of a webpage that showed what needed work.
It was super helpful to see what needed the most work vs. what could wait. I asked for some quotes and got some things fixed right then and there. I had my car back by the end of the day! The people working here are very friendly and helpful. I didn't feel taken advantage of (I'm a young woman and I worry about that since I know barely anything about cars). My car did great on the 3,000+ mile road trip and I've been back since for other things that were on the diagnostic list. Would recommend for sure.

Great shop with a great staff, took the car because I was leaking coolant and car was over heating. The way they do the diagnostic is cool. Once they find the issue they messaged me the computer test results as well as a picture of where the leak was coming from. Aside from the awesome work, I live close to the shop and appreciated them giving me a ride home while they worked on my car

Oh my goodness how can I begin to express how great this place is. David went beyond and was able to help me with my daughters car, a c-max, that needs a full transmission replacement. Money is tight right now so this was the last thing I needed but David and Mike (the owner) went out of their way to talk with Ford and get it taken care of by Ford! I have used these guys for the last three years and trust them fully to give me the best advice and service!

Recently did a lift install on my own Jeep. Wanted a professional to check my work, do an alignment and re-run my brake lines. L & R was able to get me in the next day at a very reasonable price, and had the work finished ahead of schedule. Most importantly, the guys at L & R were easy going and willing to talk me through all of the questions I had. Never felt rushed and am so thankful to have found an honest shop to work on my Jeep.

I called the shop to get a quote on a timing belt replacement four months ago and they quoted me $400. Timing belt recently went out this week and I had it towed to L&R on a weekend. I wanted to verify the verbal quote of $400 but they were closed on Saturday. I had it towed to L&R on Saturday and called back on Monday. The guy I spoke to initially quoted me $500 and when I informed him that I had the vehicle towed there, he raised it $1000.
I informed him I would go somewhere else. I later got a call from Mike the owner who was quite rude and threatening to add a storage fee to the vehicle if it wasn't out today. Not the customer service I was expecting at all given they glorify themselves as honest and friendly service on their website.

Vic was very informative the moment I called in asking for a quote. My Check Engine Light was on and he told me the cost and what I could expect. As soon as the car was diagnosed he gave me the cost and emailed it so I could take a look. The car was done that day and even tho I was not able to pick up that car that day, he held it over the weekend. He was very honest and up front and didn't try to oversell anything. I appreciate a honest mechanic and would recommend this place to anyone with car concerns.

I originally had my breaks checked in tiresplus, and they quoted myself an enormous amount of work that needs to be done on my car and, of course, it came with the money that was over $600. It also took precisely three hours simply to get an oil change and the breaks check. I went to L & R Automotive and they visibly showed myself the condition of my break pads and rotors.
It turned out to be the opposite. I only needed my rear break pads replaced, and it only took about an hour to do the job. L & R is a very reliable and credible shop to take your car to. Will definitely be going there for all of my car's services.

Vic of L & R spent hours working on my car and driving it around. He didn't find much, other than a few spots of built up oil and dirt that could have been causing my problems, so he decided to charge me for less than an hour of labor. I left the car with them for several days and rented a car - Mark and Vic were both extremely helpful in arranging that, as well as explaining what they were finding that looked good and not so good.
As someone who doesn't live in the Denver area and just stumbled on this shop when my car was having problems, I was grateful to find such an honest and helpful repair shop. Since I can't be a repeat customer I hope others will patronize this honest local business.

Fantastic Service! From past experience I knew L&R would get me in on time. They were as prompt as usual. It was only for an oil and filter change as well as Subaru recommended brake fluid change. Their complimentary inspection picked up a problem with corrosion of the battery terminals. My biggest praise comes from their communication with me, never trying to up-sell, just inform. They even adjusted my service interval reminders based on past needs. Great team.

I was leaving on a road trip last Thanksgiving and realized my brake light was out. Not wanting to get a ticket I tried to get it fixed the day I was leaving. I got the bulb at the auto parts store and tried a couple of auto repair shops to get it installed. No one had time. I stopped in at L and R and explained my circumstance. They said they could install it immediately.
I returned in an hour and it was done, it was done right and they did not charge me a penny! They just said Happy Thanksgiving! Great service and great people. I highly recommend this auto repair shop!!
