Cherry City Transmission is the leader in Salem for the service and fixing of auto charging systems. Our auto shop team take the time to educate our clients in knowing that the battery, starting and charging systems in their car or truck play pivotal roles in ensuring the dependable operation of your vehicle while driving. The car battery stores electrical energy that is then converted by the starter into the mechanical force needed to start your engine. The alternator then serves the purpose of producing the electrical current - initially offered by the car battery - that is necessary for the vehicle's electrical needs when the engine is running. The ignition module turns the low voltage supply to the ignition coil on and off, which in turn is converted to a higher voltage that is necessary for the vehicle's ignition system to operate. The voltage is used to engage the spark plugs and create the sparks that are necessary to ignite the combined air/fuel mixture in the car engines cylinders. I knew my car needed some work and was quoted over$500 by a different mechanic. Cherry City was able to look at the problem and fix it without buying any new parts, which saved me a bunch of money and was totally unexpected. My front end looked better when I got it back too and I found out they tightened down some loose bolts, cleaned out my headlights so they looked like new and readjusted the lights. My car feels safer somehow. I'm very happy with the work this shop did on my car.

The process was smooth and very transparent. I loved this guys! I was able to get my car back on the road in no time and it's back in great shape. BEWARE: SHOP AROUND BEFORE COMING HERE. I should have trusted my gut after reading the reviews, thats my fault. But he said he was available to begin working on my car right away, after calling a few shops( all of whom which were honest and said it would be a couple days before they could get to it) he said he was available to start immediately. Brought my car in the morning, by 4 o'clock I hadn't heard anything, didn't hear anything until later the next day.
My warranty is awesome and simple and pays immediately but that was used as the reason as to why it was taking so long, so I called warranty company, they said give us an invoice number and we can get it paid right NOW. Pretty simple. I offered to do that and was told no. The whole process was pretty rough. Then I was told my part could be shipped over night for and extra 50-75, no problem i said yes.
However 4 buisness days later ( 7 days after my car was dropped off, not counting holidays and days off) my car still wasn't ready, it was by the end of the 7th day. I asked the owner very politely if I could see where I paid the $75 over night fee, a receipt, a label, anything? He refused. Said it wasn't possible and the shipping price is factored into that part price. HUH?
I just wanted to see that I got what I paid for, after my car being there so long. Very dissatisfied with the way this whole thing went, I also had to pay a $90 diagnostic fee on top of replacing the alternator. I dont know if thats standard but I have never had to pay that before, on top of paying to have the repairs completed. The owner should have just been honest with me up front so I could have gone to a shop that had sooner availability.

Let me start by saying, I have never written a review for any business because the service was never exceptional. My experience with Cherry City Transmission was exceptional! I took my 69 Camaro in for a "ticking issue" coming from the transmission area. Cherry City Transmission got me in the same day, it was on the rack within 20 minutes, and I got a call back with a diagnosis within a couple hours. I was provided my options and the issue was fixed the very next morning. Start to finish, well under 24 hours. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional.

Brought my volvo here a couple times. Honest answers and work is what I got from cherry city. I was very pleased with the way my repairs where handled. Very thorough with their diagnostics got me back up and running in a timely manner. Just a busy little shop so make sure you call before picking up your vehicle.

I had my clutch and brakes go out at the same time. Called on a Sunday and Sapon, the owner, answered and was willing to have me fixed up and out of there after having the car for only a business day. Very straightforward and honest with the price, took his time explaining the fix options and even showed me the worn parts after repairs. I appreciated the value, positive interaction and overall experience. Way better deal than the dealer costs.

I live out of state, and these guys "owned" my transmission problem from start to finish. To start with, they coordinated my tow and put the towing costs on my invoice. During the process of looking for a transmission repair facility in Salem, I learned a lot. For one thing, other establishments prefer to simply have customers buy a new transmission or a rebuild. Cherry City rebuilds your transmission so they know what goes into it and can stand by their warranty.for approximately 25% less than quotes I got for a rebuild/new transmission.
When I returned to Washington state and advised them that I had a couple minor issues to address, rather than give me the run around, they estimated what it would cost to resolve the non-critical issues there, and on the spot, put a check in the mail same day; more than fair I thought, especially under the circumstances. From Jessica in the front office, to all of the technicians I spoke with, I felt fortunate that I found these transmission experts and would gladly recommend them to anyone.

Our family had two great experiences at Cherry City Transmissions! Sophar was professional and honest. They repaired a gas leak and did work on our breaks. They went above and beyond what we were expecting, and their rates were very affordable. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a great shop in Salem!

Love, love Cherry City Transmissions. Their New Owner is Great! We were told that our Mini Cooper would have to go to Portland to be worked on. How happily surprised we were to find out that Cherry City Transmission, right here in West Salem, can fix our Mini Cooper. They did a great job and we are now taking our Jeep Grand Cherokee to them to be repaired also.

When I had the engine on my truck replaced, that shop messed up the transmission. So I took my truck to Cherry City for the tranny repair. Turned out I needed the tranny rebuilt, but I'd had it done just about a year before at another place. That first shop ripped me off-they didn't do the rebuild after all. Cherry City brought me back to show me everything and gave me the old parts (the first place never did).
They even had me come back a week later for a free re-check and adjustment. They were super great-I'd been terribly ripped off by other mechanics and was pleased to find one that treated me well. It was spendy, yes, but it's been over 2 years and not a single problem.

Had an issue with the manual trans in my C5 Corvette. Been having clutch issues as well. Apparently it was beyond the diagnostic skills of the dealer. Long story short, Larry at Cherry City took great care of me and my car, did exactly what he said he'd do and at exactly the price he said he'd do it at. My car has never driven better. When I needed transmission work prior to coming to Cherry City Transmissions, it had never been a pleasant experience. I chose Cherry City this time for my wife's van transmission problems because of, well, a coupon offer. After talking initially to Jerry I felt that maybe this experience would be different, and it was. Work was completed prior to when it was promised.
The cost was what, Jerry said it would be... and it was fixed right the first time. Since that event, I have had 3 other vehicles' transmissions serviced and again, prompt service with no hidden extra costs. I checked around and found this to be the very best place. My car has a transmission that is tough to rebuild correctly. The rebuild he recommended included some parts designed to correct the weak parts in my trans. It has been over two years now, and I am happy to report that my transmission is still working better than new! I am a car guy. This car has it's own web page.
