Brakes are pretty much the most important safety device on your car. If you've ever partially lost your brakes in the past, you'll agree that it's not something you want to experience again. Inspecting your brakes twice a year for wear and damage can protect you and your passengers. Additionally, it will also help save you money by catching any damage before it becomes too costly.
Most people ignore their tires, yet tires are undoubtedly a critical safety component on a vehicle. Where the rubber meets the road affects traction, handling, steering, stability and braking. Because of this, a sudden tire failure can have serious consequences, especially if it occurs when operating at high speeds.
Think of it this way: Research indicates that the average vehicle is driven about 12,000 miles per year. A car with a toe angle misadjustment of 0.34 degrees (only 0.17 inches) out of specification will drag the tires sideways for more than 68 miles by the end of the year! Follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommendation noted in your owner's manual.

Brian is very nice and very reliable. You know you can trust him. I had gone to Pep Boys because I thought I needed an alignment and they told me I needed all new tires. I took it to Intown Auto Care for a second opinion and all I needed was new weights added to my tires. Very trustworthy and would recommend.

My car was having trouble starting and stalled a few times, I brought it to Intown to get checked out. I needed new spark plugs and my car is running so smoothly now. This was my first time going here and as a young woman they could have taken advantage of me and up-charged me. Thankfully my dad is a mechanical engineer and knows his stuff so he confirmed price would be for labor and spark plugs and they charged me less than I anticipated, a total of $330 which is a deal.

Its a honest mechanic shop which is pretty rare. Brian who I spoke with was really nice to me each encounter and explained to me all of the charges and what was wrong with the car. Really nice guy even after I called them 4 times in one day. I will definitely be going back to them in the future. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars and not the full 5 is because I did not receive an update until I called 4 days after dropping it off and than I had to call the following Monday to figure out when my car would be ready because I had not gotten a call from them.

I needed a little bit more communication to plan out travel to work better and next time I know to state that. Overall, great service and price I am still a very satisfied first customer.

This is a great neighborhood place to bring your car. They have been our spot for oil changes for the past two years and we are very happy with their service. They have plenty parking in the back, so don't let the front lot scare you away! Online booking doesn't seem to always work, so be sure to give them a call.

Our 2009 Scion wouldn't crank yesterday morning so I was going to have it towed to Intown AutoCare, but the tow driver was able to crank it (said it was bad gas which I was skeptical). Drove it in to get checked out and also asked them to check the tire pressure light which wouldn't go away. Turns out the tow driver might have been right, no issues and they fixed the light. NO CHARGE. You don't see that very often, and now I'll be coming back asap to knock out my list with our other car. Long term customer made today! Thanks Brian!

Brian and co. did a fantastic job of diagnosing my ABS brakes sensor problem and having it fixed and ready to go in the same day. When I had a delay in picking up my car they were kind enough to let me come the next morning. This is a great neighborhood shop; keep your business intown! I'll be back. Service: Brakes

Owner Brian is incredibly knowledgeable about vehicles, and as honest as the day is long. You may need to leave your vehicle overnight because his customers are loyal and the shop is always busy.

Dropped my car on Friday @8.15AM for an oil change. Havent heard anything from the guy till 2PM so I called and he said he is working on it now and he will call me back when car is ready. Havent heard from him till 5.30PM so I decided to call back. No one picked up the phone so I decided to walk to the shop and see what is going on. When i came there guy said he haven't had a chance to change the oil yet but it will be done at some point that night. I decided to get my keys and change oil elsewhere. Not going back.

Amazing. Had a stripped lug nut stuck on my car so I couldn't get the flat off. Dropped it off in the middle of the night and the super courteous staff had the new tire on me next day for no charge. Made my day, thank y'all so very much.

Recently I needed a quick oil change before a drive to Charleston. Intown offered to fit me in that very day, and one of the staff gave me a ride to work. They not only changed the oil, they rotated my tires at no extra charge! That was a happy surprise. The price was reasonable, and the man who helped me was extremely personable, polite and professional. I will definitely be back for all my Subaru's needs--may they be few!

Oil change wasn't finished until long past the promised time. They apparently didn't know how to reset the maintenance indicators either.

After having our car serviced elsewhere and our automobile's problems were not solved, we decided to have our car checked out right down the street in our new neighborhood of Oakhurst. Intown Auto Care is simply the best. They found the problem causing the issues that the other mechanics missed entirely. Go see Brian at the front desk. He's one of the nicest, most honest people and will take care of you!

I've always had great service. I've been taking my car here for years. When I take my car in, they check to see if any routine maintenance or other repairs are needed, but aren't pushy at all about it. They're always very fair and treat their customers well.

I am pissed that I even have to do this review because I already knew not to bring my car here but my significant other took our Mercedes R-350 here for a simple oil change. I had already researched reputable repair shops that specialize in this type vehicle but because he was in a rush he took it to Intown Auto Care. Got the car back and on a simple drive to Gwinnett ---the car started smoking like a train.

At first I attributed it to a possible small oil spill (which would still mean sloppy work at best) but after a couple of hours the smoke has gotten worse---I'm in route to them now but hate to say I knew better. Going to Munich West first thing Monday.

I've relied on Brian for all car related services for several years. I trust his opinion on repairs, as well as open consultations on car purchases. His team is knowledgeable but his attention to detail and standard for quality seems to rub off on the people he hires - honest, friendly and has your best interests at heart. Couldn't ask for a better brand of service

Took my Nissan Altima here to get diagnosed. Was asked if I knew what a car battery was besides an alternator. I believe a car battery is definitely common knowledge even though I'm a woman. Quoted $690; So I called around other nearby shops for quotes for $590 & $577. I called Intown back up and said these are the quotes I received, can you come down a little even if only by fifty bucks. Intown response, "Only if you have a basement I can live in." I decided to pay the forty dollar diagnostic fee and drive my car to another shop.

Within thirty minutes another garage (Roger Jordan) called and said you don't need an alternator at all, just a battery. They said you would of bought an unneeded alternator. I am a teacher and would not recommend any woman go to this place.

Intown Auto is the only mechanic I use. They are reliable, honest and reasonably priced. Brian is the guy that always answers my phone calls and greets me at the front desk. He is ALWAYS smiling and happy and is a great guy to chat with too! I had a neighborhood mechanic in Birmingham, AL before I moved to Decatur and never thought I'd find one as good as him, but Brian and the staff have blown my expectations out of the water, I can't recommend them enough!

I brought my car in for an oil change and general inspection just to make sure everything was doing okay. I got there at 10am, but didn't get to leave with my car until a little after 6pm (that's 8 hours). I called at approximately 3:30 to see how they were doing, and they still hadn't even started looking at my car. at 4:30 they had, and had a couple of things they needed to work on before I could leave. I'm fine with the last hour and a half.but the 6 1/2 hours of wait time for nothing was really frustrating.

When I called to make an appointment they said they had one person in at 8 but the rest of the day was open, and when I came in they said it would take a "couple hours, " which is fine, but there's no way I would expect 8. Other than time, it was reasonable price and they were nice (which is why it's a 2 but not a 1 star). But EIGHT hours for something routine? That wasn't how I wanted to spend my day, regardless of the coffee shop and restaurants around.

Took my car to them twice. First time I was turned away because I was told I should just take it to a Body Shop. Second time, I was turned away because they out-source their alignments. Won't be a third time. Nice guys. Smart. Good area of town. But, disappointed they couldn't help me any.

My first time using this place and I would absolutely recommend this business. Brian answered my call right away about servicing my car for brake service. In addition to a concrete estimate, he was quick to suggest bringing in my car and letting them see if i truly needed a brake replacement. So, the next morning, I drove up to the place, dropped off my car and awaited the diagnosis.

I had also mentioned that I needed an oil change, if he could squeeze the service in as well. After several hours, Brian called me with the good news that I had at least 50% wear left on my front brakes and 70% on the rear. I was pleased to here that and was grateful for the honesty. I'm a believer in supporting the local businesses in Decatur and I'm proud to say that I would recommend Intown to my friiends and neighbors!

I first heard about these guys by checking reviews for autocare in the area, as my car was in need of some service and I wanted to know which mechanics around here were shady and which were trustworthy. Unfortunately, I got the chance to put this to the test when my car started running hot and overheating earlier this week! I remembered that Intown Autocare was fairly close and basically limped over to their service center, knowing an overheating engine is always something you address ASAP.

Even though they were PACKED, they took me in and promised to help me find out what was wrong. Not only did they get to the bottom of the issue, but after realizing how new the car was (2013 model), they urged me to take it to a dealership where it could be fixed under warranty for free, rather than just using that opportunity to take advantage of me.

I paid just for the diagnosis, which helped a ton to get me on the right path. Absolutely recommend these guys in every way. Their customer service is phenomenal (Brian even stayed later after closing time to let me pick up my car) and the prices were fair for the work they did. I will definitely be returning to them for any of my car needs.

My fiancee takes her car and truck for an occasional tune up given that both are old cars. She has never said anything negative about Intown Autocare. In fact, she appreciates their brutal honesty and lack of "your flux capacitor is leaking" scare tactics. One of the nice things that they have is a secure key drop, and you can pick up the car at your convenience as their front lot is not locked up. I haven't had the pleasure to deal with them, but when I see the bill I know that my fiancee is not getting a bad deal for the services rendered.

I've been taking our cars to Brian and his team for years. He's as solid as they come. Today, I dropped my family van off for a simple alignment and oil change. Brian called to say there was an issue with the steering assembly, and instead of just telling me the issue and saying I have to pay for it, he told me he thought warranty should cover it and that I should call dealers to see! Turns out, its not under warranty and he is going to get the business anyways, but his honesty in the matter rises above. If you go to him, you'll get solid work and comfort in the honesty. I'll keep going back.

I'm only holding back on the "5th star" because I don't want to jinx the work I just had done. Courteous, on time, and best of all--Brian troubleshot, then fixed the small problem that was causing big trouble. The Jeep continues its journey to oblivion!

I used to live around the corner from this shop, which made it my go-to when I needed repairs. They were always completely honest with me and got my repairs done within a day. Also I once thought I had car issues and dropped my car off. Turned out it was just cold weather giving my car a hard time, not the car itself (Hey, I'm from Florida). Brian didn't even charge me to look at the car and said I could drop it off again if I had problems. That's a rarity, my friends -- I even had my checkbook in my hand.

And while I've read that they will drop you off where you need to go, it's only a short 20 minute walk from the East Lake MARTA station (get your exercise). Overall = Not crap.

Look, it's probably not the cheapest place in the world, but they've taken care of me twice now and done the job quickly, on-time (two different things) and at the price they said. Also, Brian the owner or manager or whatnot is a heckuva nice guy. The only downer is that they're closed Saturday, but I'll bet if you drop off your car early, someone will give you a ride to the East Lake MARTA station.
