Ken and his wife Paula, purchased Schneider's Automotive Repair in March of 2017 from Mitch Schneider, who formally retired from the Automotive Repair business. Mitch was determined to find the right people to turn his shop of over 40 years to, and we think he did a great job! Ken previously owned another shop in the San Fernando valley - Star Auto Haus, for over 20 years.

Warning, do not get work done at this shop! I took my Beamer here because it needed suspension work done. Was told by the owner (also my landlord) that they were not the cheapest shop, but they guaranteed quality work and was told they use OEM Lemforder suspension parts. That was a lie. They put on KYB struts and shocks and some cheap control arms which they overcharged me for by 3-4x the original amount, especially on the sway bar links. 7,000 miles later, my inner bushing on my right control arm popped out!

Also they failed to change out my cracked tower mounts and had to bring it back. I'm so pissed with this shop for outright lying to me and doing negligent work! Unless you want to get bent over and taken advantage of, I would definitely take your car somewhere else. They charge dealer prices but you don't get quality parts or work.

I developed a sudden, severe oil leak in my F250 diesel truck. Joe was able to squeeze me in for the "emergency" repair. Joe was a professional, yet friendly "people-person". He and Steve made a positive first impression and maintained it. I developed an immediate trust of this automotive shop. I would recommend the shop to my family and friends.

Very friendly, I thought expensive, but when I went online and checked other pricing they were "in line, " maybe a bit high on the oil change (price of the oil, not the service itself.) I will use them again! Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Oil change

I want to thank-you so much for helping me out. I ran over a tire and it's wheel on a very dark spot on the freeway at night. The fender was loosened and I didn't know what other damage may have occurred. I brought my car to you and even though I didn't have an appt. you fit me in as you could. Thank goodness there was no other damage and you were able to fix the fender.

Another thing is thank-you for going ahead and servicing my car. I would have had to come back another day for that. You did a great job for a reasonable price. I think you're kind of stuck with me now. So plan on seeing me in the future. I am a very appreciative customer. Do not be afraid to try these guys out. They are great!

II wanted to get knock sensor replaced on my Acura since i got manufacture code to replace that specific part. I read the reviews and called in to get a quote. I got a reasonable quote but the representative said that he can't guarantee to fix the problem until he does diagnosis first. I am a mechanical engineer myself and i looked at the car and since everything was working fine i told him to just replace the sensor as mechanics not always but mostly wants to earn free money on diagnosis.

They will give valid reasons for that but they are not applicable most of the time. Anyways, he kept on mentioning diagnosis which I found irritating but kept on ignoring. On the day of drop he again mentioned diagnosis and I got suspicious that he is just trying to get extra free money. I was afraid that I'd get a call for extra repair work as I refused diagnosis.

Reasonable quote was just a way to attract but I was also hopeful that I might be wrong and he is one of the honest one. I was right I got a call for some extra unnecessary repairs. I didn't want to get cheated and I told the representative that I don't want extra work now so please go ahead with just sensor. I was promised car will be ready by 5 pm.

I didn't get a call so I called at 5: 55 PM, five minutes before close. I was told that since I didn't opt for extra repairs, they didn't do anything with my car. I was shocked. They kept my car whole day and refused to service just because I was not willing to get cheated by them. I usually don't write reviews but this was extreme level of dishonesty and I wanted to make other people aware.

They wasted my time and also, I lost money in making alternate arrangements for car on that day. I am sure they don't try to cheat everybody but just be prepared to lose lot of money if you fall into a specific category of people they would choose to cheat. Also, i got some additional codes after car pick up which usually comes when you try to drive car after applying hand breaks which means they are not being careful with your car when you leave it for repairs.

What a breath of fresh air! After many unhappy experiences at my local Ford dealership I found these guys and thought I'd give them a try. So glad I did! Looking for a new mechanic to maintaine service on my Acura and looks like I found one. Most important thing for me is to be able to feel I can trust my mechanic and I believe I can with Schneiders. I was having problems with my car Christmas thinking it was the alternator. I was a new customer and they still fitted me in the day I called. Fixed the car and cost was what I had expected.

They did a check on the car to give me a list of items I may want to look into getting maintained but said it was not needed Immediately and just wanted to advise. No pressure. I will be going back and hope to keep as my regular machanic.

This was my first time servicing my car outside the dealership, and Joe was a true professional, as he first had my QX50 checked before automatically performing unnecessary services recommended at 30K. Ken (the owner) was kind enough to drop me home while the car was in the shop, as was Joe, who picked me up when car was ready. I will be back for future servicing and highly recommend Schneider's Automotive in Simi Valley.

I already left a review after my first visit because my check engine light is on and it was a knock sensor, and they supposedly fixed it except within hours the check engine light came back on and the guy at my work checked the code and it was still the knock sensor. Plus, they broke my heater core. So I went back last Monday, 8/23/21, a week ago and showed them the code and said that they need to fix it and fix my heater core too because they broke it.

The mechanic Joe told me that it won't go well for me if I accuse him of breaking my heater core, which Schmeider's did break it. Well, it took a week and I got my car back for the second time and within hours the check engine light came right back on only now it also doesn't shift well. The truck revs really high up to like 4 RPMs before shifting from first to second and then it keeps going all the way up to 4 RPMs and won't shift out of second gear.

The truck is running really high and it's going to get hot so now my truck after taking it to Schneider's twice this month of August for a total of two weeks, my truck runs worse than ever. Warning! DON'T TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!

We took our truck to a different shop twice and the problem was still not fixed. I did an online search for someone specializing in Ford. I called Schneider's and made an appointment. These guys were great. Ken and Joe explained what they would do. Then called with the diagnosis and the cost. Everything turned out great. This is where we will return for any work in the future, Thanks guys.

I can't tell you how thrilled I was to have my a/c fail in the middle of July! Not just kinda fail, we are major event fail.grrrr. So, who was I going to call? Joe at Schneider's Automotive Repair of! Course! Did I mention I had one of those dreaded, OMG what was I thinking, car warranty policies? Joe patiently took care of dealing with the insurance company, saying only a few naughty words as he waited 40 minutes on hold several times.

He helped me so much and was so gracious and above all patient. I can't tell you grateful I am to know that they are there, it's kind of like having a little car angel on my shoulder if I need them. Oh.and they even washed my car! Extra credit points for the win!

I was visiting from out of town when I had car issues, the situation was very stressful and I was super anxious that my transmission was ruined. This shop squeezed me in same day, when all of the Jeep dealerships couldn't see me until the end of the week. Ken was very helpful and explained everything to me, the prices were reasonable and I trusted what they told me.

Only con was the the diagnostic fee DID NOT go towards the work I had done and it took them quite awhile to diagnose my car. Overall though, I would recommend going here and if I ever have issues again when I'm in this area I will return.

I called this place SUPER last minute to take a look at my car and no hesitation they were ready for me as soon as we arrived with VERY honest answers and professional from the moment we walked in! Definitely a 5 stars for me, definitely will be coming back for any of my cars needs.

So these few 1 star reviews made me bit cautious taking my car to Schneiders, but I'm glad I did. Extremely positive experience. Took in my Range Rover for an oil change. Pricing was in-line with other Indy shops, but what you get in return is way more. They used the higher grade of Oil. Usually shops use the lower end of the allowed range to save few bucks, but at Schneiders they went by whatever dealer would have used.

My car got somewhat detailed visual inspection, with pictures, notes and recommendations. All got posted on line, and I got a link to review everything. It was more detailed and better presented than my yearly medical exam with blood work ( take that Cedar Sinai). Customer service was friendly and attentive. Final report came with some suggestions of near future repairs/ maintenance, but at no point was pushy. I'm not really freaked out about COVID, but it was nice to see that their office was COVID-proofed.

They even suggest you to take with you pen you sign documents with. I'm new to Simi, so I'm happy I found a place to take my cars in for service. If at any point my experience will change, I'll be back to revise this review! LOL

Schneider's isn't worth your time. I brought my vehicle in for a door lock issue; after a few days, I picked it up. I took 3 seconds to check that the locks now worked--the problem wasn't even fixed! Did they even bother retesting the issue to see if it was resolved before trying to charge me for their "service?" Evidently not. Schneider's doesn't give the time and attention your vehicle deserves. Simi has plenty of mechanics; do yourself a favor and pick a different one.

Side note. They also don't take COVID seriously. Office staff only wear masks when customers approach and don't bother enforcing masks for other customers. Technicians don't mask at all, even in the office. They must not care that COVID lingers indoors. If you care about preventing the spread of infection, you won't feel safe here.

Schneider's auto took a negative experience and went above and beyond to do their best to rectify it. They listened to my negative feedback and addressed every point I brought up to: 1. Help me to understand fully the issues 2. Make sure I was satisfied and as happy as I could be with the end result 3. Prove they care about ME and 4. Make a lifetime customer out of me. Have an open dialogue with them and voice all of your concerns questions apprehensions and situations. They care and they will help you the best way they can.

Had an amazing experience at this shop. I previously visited the shop to get some assistance with my window and they where kind enough to help without charging me. I decided to return to get my car serviced due to the amazing customer experience. The shop owner ( I forgot her name ) and Joe are amazing! Joe even followed up with me two day's later just to thank me for my business and wish me a good day. Customer service like this especially from a mechanic shop is extremely rare these days.

Schneider's Automotive is a company that has been here in Simi for over 40 years. Honesty and integrity are their core values in a business that is rife with business taking advantage of the consumer. I took my Cadillac to the dealer to get my car serviced for a percolating noise coming out of the engine. I found out that my car was out of warranty.

I left the car at the dealer. I got a call later that day saying that they would like to keep the car overnight because I was short a gallon of coolant and the wanted to test the car when it was cold. Did that. I got a call the following day saying that there was a small crack in the cylinder head and that the work would be about $4800 + tax. I picked up the car because I needed to get funds to possibly proceed.

I brought the car to Schneider's for a second quote. I told them what the dealer said. Frank called me back with a quote of $4300 with tax. A savings of a little over $700. I dropped the car a few days later. I get a call saying they can't find anything wrong with it but would like to keep the car for further tests. They did a pressure test, fluorocarbon test and still did not find anything wrong.

Final bill $275. They could have done what the dealer said and "fix" an unnecessary repair and had me pay on their original quote. But they maintained their core values. I will always recommend sending people to this company for the workmanship and the fact that they care about us and their reputation.

PLEASE READ: The good reviews on this page are practically forced by the owners onto the customers. When the repair is done they say we will offer you a discount (fractional) if you leave us a good review. I get it, sometimes we don't have a choice and we have to take the car in to get repaired, sometimes ASAP. Always do your own research before you go in or 'Schneider's Sociopathic Automotive' will basically come to you and say your car needs a hundred different things.

Oh and then slap you with a $6000 estimate and say you NEED this done. Then they look at you like you need to swipe your card now. (I don't think they understand the concept of money or market value or the fact that people don't have 6K to spend on repairs)! My experience at Schneider's was uncomfortable the first time. They charged me $165 to diagnose my car when I had already told them what was wrong (I knew what was wrong because Ive been an automotive enthusiast since I could remember. Im also an Aerospace Engineer which makes me very observant and handy.

I have worked on 80% of all the issues ive had since I started driving over a decade ago). Anyway, Schneider came back to me with a $6000 estimate for ten different things unrelated to issue which cost $500-700 with part and labor. I went home and did the work myself after taking a day off work (I came to Schneider for convenience). My second and most recent experience blew my mind.

I came into Schneider's to get an estimate for a "flex disc" replacement. The guy behind the counter with glasses said "we will do a full diagnose on your car". I said "no thank you, last time I almost went bankrupt with your estimate and I don't want to pay another diagnosing fee WHEN I ALREADY KNOW THE ISSUE"! So he said okay and gave me an estimate for repair.

The estimate was SOMEWHAT reasonable and I say SOMEWHAT because I just wanted to get it done without hopping around. So I said "okay lets do it", but I asked the owner ken if I can audit the diagnose and repair from the driveway (where people park cars and walk). He looked at me with a dead face like I said the dumbest thing ever. Then he said "uhh no you can't" with a strong attitude.

I said "I cant stand and watch from where people park and walk anyway?". He said "no its against rules". I told him sir with all due respect I am an engineer with a lot of shop floor experience, I just want to watch and listen. He said "Thats good for you but you can't". I took grave offense to the fact that he patronized me in front of his whole office.

So instead of making a scene I just said in a nice and calm manner "Okay thank you Im just going to take my car from here". The guy in the glasses behind the counter said "The keys are in the car", again, dismissing me like I'm trash. Ive never felt profiled like this my entire life. To the Owner/Affiliates: Please do not reply to this review. Ive seen your generic passive apologies on other reviews.

So far, so good. I have not had my repairs done yet. I requested a quote through "Yelp" and Frank promptly responded. He gave me a very fair quote, for the work I needed. When I called there. Frank answered the phone and he was very polite and thorough. He even told me approximately, how long the job would take. Also, when I called back (There was some vehicle information Frank had asked for, however I didn't have the information in front of me.) the woman who answered (Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name.) was very courteous and thorough, as well. After my repairs are done. I will write another review. Judging by my experience so far. I'm sure, it will be a good review.

I am beyond appreciative for the fine work done on my car. I have been coming here for years and I always feel the job is done right and at a fair price. The staff at Schneider is kind, very hard working and extremely knowledgable. They went above and beyond in fixing my car so the job could be completed before a long holiday weekend. Love the feel of this local family owned automotive shop. Someone told me this is one of Simi Valley's best kept secrets. Well time to share this secret with all my friends. This shop is a complete automotive repair facility. They'll work on your engine, brakes, alignment, A/C, and check any sensor with their cool diagnostic machine. They basically can do any automotive service except Smog.
