This is the second time I came to Jim's Auto Repair. They repaired my cars quickly, efficiently and at an affordable price. I am more than pleased with their quality of service. I know they specialize on VW's but I have Toyota vehicles and their work is superb. Highly recommend them for any service you made need. Thank you so much, Jose!

Brought my 2002 VW GTI VR6 in for a complete maintenance check-up and bumper to bumper inspection. Jose and Jose Jr were very helpful with their explanations about what needed to be done and what they suggested to be done as well. I was not able to get my car right away and they didn't sweat it at all. Gave me an extra 2 days for pick-up. Highly recommend this auto shop.

Having a good reliable, honest mechanic is like having a good Dr. Jim and his crew are just that. They always do a great job at a fair price. I highly recommend!

The business is only as good as the mechanics. Jose is a great guy but his mechanics only know how to read a code and replace parts or do tuneups and oil changes. They never solved the issue I brought my 2013 VW GTI in for. After replacing parts and charging $900 the check engine light comes on. The mechanic doesn't know how to listen to the car and trouble shoot.

Also worked on my 2001 VW Rialta and couldn't figure out that it needed a new valve body and the transmission gaskets were leaking. Won't bring my VWs back here. Jose is a sweet guy but I need a mechanic that knows what they are doing.

Jim's Auto Repair is the only place I take my 1974 Bay window bus. Jim's Auto installed a custom 2.3L with 44's which I use as a daily driver to commute to work all over Los Angeles. This motor is what I recommend if you want something with power and reliability. Jose and all the family at Jim's have complete knowledge and experience with vintage VW's, they build and install stock and custom motors.

Impossible to find a better mechanic than Jose! Jose and his family are such good people, they're amazing to work with and have gotten my '71 Westfalia in awesome shape. Jose always takes time to walk me through the repairs, what he's doing and why. They are masters in car maintenance and repair. And the pricing is really fair. Thanks for all of your help!

I can easily say that I found my mechanic for life as far as I know. Idk how Jose did it but he fixed my little VW Golf almost as good as new. I've had it since 2015 and ever since I started driving it the brakes would screech like a banshee. No one person could ever figure out why it did that or fix it until I took it to Jim's Auto! So impressed and the prices are fair.

Definitely expensive but you can tell he's not trying to rob you of your money like the rest of the so called mechanics out there. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because communication is spotty. He would say he would call within the x day to update but wouldn't (I'm sure because he's busy) but we would always have to be the ones calling to ask for update or to know when we could pick up the car.

Love it here tho and I hope I don't have any more problems with my '98 Golf but if I do, I know I'm going to Jim's Auto. Wouldn't trust anyone else but my own dad. Gracias, Jose! -Irmita haha

One of the last remaining family owned and operated German repair shops around. Jose, Art and the rest of the team will definitely get your car running, driving and sounding like it should.

I've been coming here for years and I'm always happy with my service. Jose is always so nice and the staff goes the extra mile. They get the job done quickly, and even add small cosmetic touch ups here and there. Last time I took in my car, they even had it washed for me with no extra cost. I appreciate the workers at this place and I'll keep coming back as long as I have my VW :

They replaced my brake pads for a very fair price, and they cleaned the exterior of my car without even mentioning it. I didn't notice until I got home but it's spotless, and they didn't charge me for it. Jose, the gentleman who serviced my car, was really kind and warm, and just generally knowledgeable. This is the best auto shop I've ever been to, and it's the only one I will go to from now on.

The absolute best mechanic! I have been bringing my VW Jetta here for about 2 years for oil changes or any problems. They are so genuine and trustworthy; I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of. I used to go to the dealership to get my car serviced and they never made me feel comfortable or cared for the way I am here. Jose is also the sweetest! Highly recommend!

Jose and his team did a great job working on my Bus. I was very impressed with their service. Definitely would recommend them to any Air Cooled enthusiast having issues.

I absolutely love this place. Jose is the owner and he knows everything there is to know about cars from the inside out. Fortunately, he has also passed on his mechanical prowess to his son and the rest of the mechanics are excellent too. Above all else, Jose is very honest and before he does any work on your car; he will answer all questions you have regarding any repairs that need to be done on your car before he does the repairs.

He has gone as far as popping the hood of the car for me and showing me as well as explaining to me what needs to be done to fix my car. Honesty, Reasonable Pricing, and RESPECT for all client's at Jim's Auto Repair. It doesn't get any better than this!

Jose is super sweet and he only charged me what another shop was going to charge me just for diagnostics. I was in and out in less than 2 hours. I know nothing about cars and luckily he didn't try to rip me off for a simple fix. I'll definitely come back!

Been coming here for years and have been in at least 10 times! Jose (his real name, not Jim) and his very talented sons (who work on either air cooled and water cooled) have an amazing operation here! Jose is honestly and reliable and he and his sons knows Volkswagens and Vanagon's as well as anyone out there, probably since he's been working on them for the better part of 30 or 40 years. Jose is spot on with his diagnosis' and is always 100% fair with his pricing! This is the first place I'll take my daily rider 1990 Volkswagen Vanagon to. He even own's a few.

Took my VW Jetta to get diagnosed as the check engine light has been on for ages weeks. From the time I called to ask about walk ins to the actual service of my car I have to say I was pleased. I was hesitant at first since it looks like a small shop but was so grateful Jose was honest with his prices and didn't add "extra" services so many other mechanics have said I needed that I really didn't.

They fixed my engine valve cover which cost $450 total. I thought it was reasonable as I've slide nearly double for a similar repair at another mom and pop shop. My car was fixed the same day and thus far has been running well. Thank you Jose and team for such a wonderful experience you are now my go to mechanics!

I would not trust any shop when it comes with my Audi's. Not the cheapest rate in town. But they do exceptional work. I recently brought an Audi with an 2.7t motor that had a catastrophic water pump damage. Junior, the son, worked on it right away and delivered to me in less than 2 days. I would say that he is an expert when it comes to complicated Audi motors.

I was billed with 6 hours of labor to do water pump, timing belt and other associated parts. 6 hours is very reasonable on this type of service. I would recommend this place for vw and Audi automobiles.

My VW Jetta had an oil leak in the vacuum pump and I needed to replace my break pads. Of course the dealership quoted me a steep $400-$900, so I asked for recommendations for garages in the area. Jim's came highly recommended by several friends and family and boy am I happy I listened! I brought my car in at 8am on a Saturday and Jose called me by 12pm saying that they had finished working on my car.

I was initially not too happy with the final cost of $450 - I mean who would ever be happy to spend that much in general? - however, I remembered I would have paid close to double if I took it to the dealership, so I agreed. When I asked him to break down the price for me he then told me that he wouldn't mind taking it down a bit so he brought my total cost down to $400!

I was shocked that he would do that! Jose was so nice and helpful. I absolutely recommend Jim's to anyone who has a German car and has trouble finding an honest and decently priced garage.

Called ahead for same day service: Oil change and check engine light diagnostics The girl who answered the phone was polite. She asked the owner if they could work on my car today and came back to phone with a yes, come on in. Lot has a ton of cars so that worried me about having time to fit me in. However, the cars were all organized, as if each had a spot saved for them. Maybe that's how auto places are, just never noticed. But I noticed it here. Signed in and handed over keys and now I wait. stay tuned.

This is one of the best mechanical shops in Long Beach. The owners Jose and Vicky are awesome! The honesty in this field is very important and you will find it here in Jim's Auto Repair.
